A big FUCK YOU to U.S. Immigration.

Massive Attack Forced to Cancel First Four Shows of North American Tour

In spite of timely and coordinated efforts, the essential U.S. immigration visas were not issued in time for the beginning of the Massive Attack North American Tour. Subsequently, the band has been forced to cancel the first four shows (Toronto, 9/10, Montreal, 9/11, Detroit 9/12, Chicago, 9/13). Currently, the rest of the tour remains in tact. The band hopes to reschedule the cancelled shows as soon as possible.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen. I knew this was too good to be true.

so the visas will, in fact, be issued for dates after 9/14? how do they already know? (keep in mind i know nothing about acquiring work visas or what they even entail.)

How exactly is it U.S. Immigration's fault that they can't play in Canada for the first two shows?

Wouldn't they have to get their own canadian visas? If so, I'd say it's a nice Fuck You from Canadian immigration too, eh?

Them too, eh.

It's someone's fault and we're paying the price. I sure as hell won't hold my breath for the show being re-scheduled.

News like this makes me glad as hell I'll see them (now for the first time!) @ ACL Fest in Austin next week.

Still, that sucks.

Now, see...? That makes no sense. Why do they have visas for ACL but not the other dates?

We got a confirmation email here @ the paper about an hour ago, though it hadn't popped up on TicketMaster or Pollstar last I checked.

Hot damn.

The Montreal date was re-scheduled for Oct. 8 and they added another show on Oct. 9.

For once, things work in our favor. I'm sure in Detroit and Chicago will get the same deal.

the tour schedule on the virgin intranet hasn't been updated yet... but my source (who does virgin's tour marketing) said they're going to reschedule the cancelled shows.

Broken Social Scene are replacing them at the Virgin Festival in Toronto.

Now I wish I could afford to go.

They're out of one day passes for ACL on Day 2. That was the only band I wanted to see too.

Is it just me or does ACL's lineup look a little weak to anyone else too?

Damn i wanna see them.

Ironically, British radio refused to play them during the first gulf war unless they listed thier name as Massive.

Have you ever tried to get into the US legally?

That's why so many people take a midnight dash across the Mexican border. It's probably a lot less hassle spending a night in the desert and all the bullshit they put you through.
