Pretty bold move bucking the NFL hype machine and not picking the Manning v. Manning matchup.

I am so fucking pumped for this game. That is all.

As a small child, ESPN'c Clayton used a slide rule and precise calculations to show Foghorn Leghorn how to make a paper airplane.

Just keep believing everything ESPN and Sports Illustrated tell you.

The Falcs have had to read about how good Carolina is all off season and have the bitter taste of that beat down they took their last game against them.

Except for last year, the Falcons have had their number. We went out and beefed up our run defense and we have one of the best corners in the game.

The Falcons may have one of the best D's in the NFL this year.

The Patriots won't make the playoffs this year. Sorry. The dream is over.

That's the good news. The bad news is they've still got Ron Mexico under center. I will give them props for the superkicker, though. Dude will be first player to kick FGs, XPs, kickoffs and punt since some guy for the Rams back in the early '80s.

That Cincy/KC matchup has GOTW written all over it.

Looking forward to Seattle's bid for a return to the Bowl.

FRANK CORRAL!!!!! The Rams went to the Super Bowl that year. You know things go in 26 year cycles.

The Falcons know Vick will NEVER be a drop back passer. They are going to let him use him legs again this year where he's most dangerous. We also have a couple receivers that are ready to be big time. Well, one at least. (Roddy White)

Regardless, this game is going to be a good un.

I agree. I think the Falcs are ready to sacrifice Vick having any sort of longevity to try and win a Super Bowl in the next two years.

Should be interesting to see if they have some plays where they just let Vick sling it to Lelee 50 yards down the field. I think both dudes can handle that even if neither are very adaptable to the finese passing game.

Also, Jenkins showed me a lot both as a receiver and a blocker in the pre. Roddy is a spectacular athlete but Jenk looks to be ready to blow up big time.

As a lifelong Eagles fan, last year's season opener officially moved the Falcons from the "team I'm indifferent about" category to the "team I hate" category.

Anyway, I'm skeptical of the Falcons ever doing much with that coach. He is a punk and seems to value intensity/coked-up-edness over discipline.

Yep, and thrillhouse, you get relegated to the level of an open dummie.

Panthers will SHIT THE BED this year.

For the 5th straight season I'm picking the Bills to win the division.

Hey Marco, have you seen that a number of analysts have picked Detroit to beat the Hawks this weekend? I'm just going crazy reading these picks.....I wholeheartedly agree with the cliche "any given Sunday" in the NFL and I know the Hawks will have a target on them for up and coming teams like Detroit, but come on! There is no real basis for this pick - if you break the game down the Hawks have them beat in every category....and this Hawks team is eager to prove themselves after the letdown in the Super Bowl. The Hawks will probably have one of the best defenses in the league this year and while Detroit has brought Mike Martz in they haven't shown that they are going to be able to run up points on average defenses, let alone potent ones.

Anyways, vent over....

Yeah, saw those picks too. It makes me nervous to be too confident in the Hawks, but I don't see them losing this one--stranger things have happened. We need DJack to remain healthy (or sign Branch)

you are a crazy person. first of all, my opinions are my own. if you are a si subscriber, know that i am laughing at you right now.

secondly, explain to me a scenerio where the pats are not a playoff team this year. outrageous suggestion. nevermind that they are better than your weak falcons, the also have an easy schedule. expect this thread to resurface in january, my retarded friend.

Yeah, after witnessing last night's Dolphins debacle, I have to agree with Francis Ford Coppola's personal photog on this one. The Pats are going to win the AFC East by doing nothing more than showing up at the stadium each week in time for kickoff. Worst. Division. Ever.

The most useless game of the week has to be Saints vs. Browns

C'mon, bro, you saw the same game I did. Culpepper looks like he's going to have one of his "off" seasons (he tends to vacillate between MVP-caliber and sub-Aaron Brooks in alternating years) with 18 TDs and 32 INTs or some such. The highly touted Ronnie Brown ran for 2.0 yards per carry more than Stephen Hawking with a dead battery. And Saban's vaunted defensive juggernaut made Charlie "The LIONS didn't even want me" Batch look like run-and-shoot-era Warren Moon.

Facts is facts, man. Tough love.

1st game of the season man. versus the defending world champions. on their home field. AND WE HAD A 3 POINT LEAD WITH 6 MINUTES REMAINING.

daunte will be fine. i'll give you the ronnie brown thing though. it concerns me. as well as our secondary.

but i'm not about to jump to conclusions based on that one game.

now if we lose to buffalo next week at home...i'm jumping ship.

I don't have a subscription to any sports mags but they all seem to have annointed Carolina as the paper Champions and I think it's bullshit.

I'm just talking shit here and I think the Pats will make the playoffs with 10 wins but they aren't what they used to be and the whole Deion Branch episode shows that there is trouble in paradise.

It's okay to have opinions even if they are wrong.
