doing my top 20 this year is going to be hard as shit. that being said, i don't know if anyone's going to be able to beat out my current #1,
liars - drum's not dead.
but i'm not sure. we'll see.

It's such a strong, well-crafted, honest record that warrants so many rewarding listens that it's hard to see it anywhere but at #1 by year's end.

I've found it to be a steadily strong year. These are some of my other favourites:

TV On The Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
Six Organs of Admittance - The Sun Awakens
Super Numeri - The Welcome Table
Spank Rock - YoYoYoYoYoYo
Charalambides - A Vintage Burden
OM - Conference of the Birds
Bardo Pond - Ticket Crystals
Major Stars - Syntoptikon
Daedelus - Denies the Day's Demise
USAISAMONSTER - Sunset At the End of the Industrial Age
Growing - The Color Wheel
OOIOO - Taiga
Joanna Newsom - Ys

That's a fine fucking list sir. I was a little bit disappointed with the OOIOO though. I forgot all about Daedelus, must revisit.

For me it's between:

MELVINS - A Senile Animal
Comets On Fire - Avatar
Bardo Pond - Ticket Crystals
Solar Anus - Skull Alcoholic
TVP - My Dark Places
Grails - Black Tar Prophecies

I need to hear that Mastodon...

Roght not It'd probably be the TVOTR, but I lost that album when I switched ipods. A VERY close second would be the Thermals record.

The sad thing it I have no idea what was put out this year anymore. That Springsteen is amazing, but should that be knocked down due to cover songs? Was Man Man's latest this year? Because that one is fucking awesome too.

What the fuck are these?

I'll have to give the Melvins a better shot on this one. The OOIOO hit me right away. I'll forget about it eventually, but it's nice.

Grails = Experimental Kraut Rock like Faust.

Tvp is Television Personalities. Dan Treacy is a legend. Very strange, child-like experiments.

Solar Anus = Japan doomlords, few tracks to stream on my blog. http://peteroach.wordpress.com/2006/08/27/solar-anus-skull-alcoholic/

No problem, hit you with Grails first then the Solar Anus. Not sure if Television personalities would be your thing, but if you dig the others then yeah. Grails later tonight?

dude, i'd LOVE to hear this...

um, i had a really hard time narrowing my favorites down to 10 and i keep staring at my list wanting to change it and i change it everyday. but i'm guessing so far my #1 album of 2006 is either hot chip - the warning or tvotr - return to cookie mountain. those are the 2 albums i'm not sick of yet and continue to be in heavy rotation.

The M's - Future Women

That's been at #1 for a while now, the other albums in my top five are:

02. The Decemberists - Crane Wife
03. Eric Bachmann - To the Races
04. Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
05. M. Ward - Post-War

We talking bout the Grails 'Black Tar Prophecies'? Cause I have given it a few listens this week, and while I like it, is not giving me that funny feeling down below!

Really? I saw them back in April, I think, and it was probably the best time I've had at a concert all year. Off night, I'd guess.
