Cat Power ("The Greatest" is the only thing that held my attention as opposed to her previous three full albums)
Herbert (for as much as everyone here hypes it up I can't stand it)
TV on the Radio (the bowie songs cool, but noisey does not equal good)
The Rapture

I know a lot of these are on a lot of top ten lists and that's cool, I'm not trying to be indier than thou as I would honestly rather listen to Taking Back Sunday or Armor for Sleep than anything I've mentioned above.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually really like that record. Who saw that coming?

I'll agree with being dissapointed in the Walkmen and Neko Case records, and add in that Ronnie Spector disaster as a topping...

I still need to hear that Primal Scream--is it worth my time? My friend Hassler said what he'd heard of it sounded pretty jail-stonsey so my curiosity is piqued a little.

David Gilmour - I hate to say it, because I love his guitaring, but this is dull, dull, dull. I really tried, but I can't sit through this thing.

Neko Case - I don't even know what it is that I dislike about Fox Confessor, but I just don't like it. I find no desire to listen to it and when I do try to force myself, I just can't get through it. I'm hoping to warm up to it later - I just can't see a reason why I can't like it. But, for some odd reason, I just don't.

Raconteurs: Aside from the first couple of songs, I think this was a turd. But I have a very low Jack White tolerance. Somehow, I find this more annoying than the White Stripes, who I tend to convince myself to give chance after chance to, find some way to enjoy for a while, then wake screaming one night realizing that I'm just not able to handle. The Raconteurs didn't even make it that long.

Things y'all don't like that I do:

Futureheads: I think this is a hell of a fun album. Way better than the first, and completely surprised me how good it was.

Paul Simon: whatever. We've been over this before. I love it.

Yes.
Team up with Brian Eno.

Songs from the Capeman would have been crap whether Brian Eno, George Martin, Phil Spector, or Steve Albini produced it.

Wrong. And his "You're the One" is very good.

you like it, fine. who knew obner had such love and expectations for latter day Paul Simon? Is there a silent affection for Art Garfunkel movies on obner too?

Based on all the hype Pitchfork and my one usually reliable friend gave me I'd say the biggest bust is Danielson - Ships.

Yeah, Polly, I listened to the Neko Case once, and haven't felt the urge to go back, though I still mean to. Otherwise, yeah, the Paul Simon, too, because of Eno's involvement only.

I was disappointed by Mouthus' "The Long Salt".

I've given her three chances... but she struck out each time. :(

Walkmen.

as much as it pains me to say it, I agree wholeheartedly.

pretty much. HOWEVER... they have another album coming out this year, but it's all covers (covers of nilsson/lennon's "pussy cats").

Wow - I'm curious about this. Pussy Cats is up there with Neil Young's Tonight's The Night for an artist peering into the abyss. Doubt the Walkmen can even come close to doing it justice, but I'll definitely listen.

i posted a track up on a tune a day... check it out. it's very interesting.

Yeah, I didn't like this at all. Haven't even been able to bring myself to give it a second listen.

Fortunately, A Lazarus Taxon has managed to renew my faith in Tortoise (even if nothing on it is really new), and BPB's forthcoming album is supposed to be great.

it was the eno connection... the combination raised hopes. it sucks really bad.

i'd also agree with the danielson... all the hype raised expectations, and it seem pretty unlistenable.

i'd also add josh rouse subtitulo... i thought he'd be a singer/songwriter who might get stronger with each release. pretty forgettable.

I was kind of thinking the Strokes. I don't think I've listened to it once since the week it came out. I was hoping for something great but it's just like the first two.

Then I remembered

I can't think of a 2006 record right now where I felt like I was duped. I guess the only records that have mildly disappointed me were The Elected and Grandaddy. But I kind of feel as if I owe those another chance since I haven't listened to them much. Everything else that I didn't like came out in a different year.
