Traditional obner deathmatch over semantics. I missed these.

The anti Dalen argument in this thread should be: "Haq lost the argument when he starting talking about Dalen's 'shitty house in Florida,' but since he is so smart, he cannot be wrong, even though he's not nearly as smart as he or anyone on the board thinks."

i had no clue haq made fun of dalen's house first, but if so, then i guess dalen was justified in ripping haq's future earning potential. i thought he was just trying to get on some pompous high horse.

i have no energy to read 4 page threads about 9/11.

I was thanking the stars I didn't take that job with Oppenheimer.

I worked for United at the time, and the day was surreal. We knew about Flight 93 before just about everyone else, because United's corporate rumor mill is one of the fastest and the best, and 93 was the only other flight whose passenger manifest and FLIFO was locked down. We could track every other flight to its new destination in Canada, but 93 was blacked out--scariest thing I've ever seen on a CRT. We kept our fingers crossed for about 35 minutes before it crashed.

It took about a week and half before I could account for my circle of family and friends from back in NYC. My grandmother died two months later, and Bay Ridge still smelled during the funeral.

don't mind the ignorant. from several of his posts it's obvious he hates America.

I also hate freedom and opportunity and everything your country stands for. You've been warned.

I lived in San Francisco at the time and was asleep, unemployed. My sister woke me up by calling to tell me not to go downtown on MUNI. I wasn't going to do that anyway since I didn't have a job. I also didn't have cable, and the only channel I got was ABC. I saw a lot of Peter Jennings that day and night--same with the 2000 election--so I was kind of sad when he died.

Seeing people jump out of the buildings is probably the worst thing I have ever seen. I also don't ever want to see that again.

2nd that.. here is a shorter version:

Very intelligent Humans (us and them) sturbbornly engaged in a course or series of events or operations that recur regularly and usually lead back to the starting point: we're killing them, they are killing us.

So we look forward to ten, twenty, thirty years plus of "war" on "terrorism" and both sides claiming justifiably unyielding rights to slaughter each other.

Sleeping in. No class that morning. Got a call from my brother, in California (he was up early). We speculated that it might have been reactionary American Christo-fascists* (think, Michigan Militia/Militia of Montana/Posse Comitatus (Wisco'! Represent!)), not reactionary Middle Eastern Islamo-fascists**. We turned out incorrect, but no matter... The former came on with a vengence in the years to follow.

* Just thought of this. I had never used, nor do I plan to use later, this term.

** This is the silliest expression in use today. Again, I don't use it, unless in jest.
