Argh.

Just came into work a little late and got in shit for it.

Thing is I think I'm in their "bad books" lately which totally sucks because I love this job.

It's sooooo lame though. No one set deadlines for me (I even asked for them) and then they got pressure from above and now it's my fault that I'm not "on schedule"---even though there never was a schedule.

Excuse my venting but it's just a little intense. My contract is up for renewal in a couple of months.

:(

I really don't deal well with office bs.

so much office bs here all the time, and i dont do office bs.
i figure i have maybe one more year of reading shit off a laptop screen before i buy some land out in the middle of nowhere and learn to provide my own food and power.

My boss is planning to take even more time away from the business (she works about 3 full-time days total a week now). When I told her I didn't have enough time to do all my work, her response was "Well, you'll just have to start coming in earlier."

Oh, yeah- at the same rate of pay, of course.

I hate that shit and it's one of the reasons I never last long in places.

One time I came into work and sat down at my desk. It was 9.02am on the clock. My fat bitch supervisor came over and screamed me out about how "I was paid to work from 9.00am to 5.00pm and I should be at my desk working a 9.00am" I replied if that was the case I would be leaving exactly at 5.00pm and not staying behind 10 or 20 minutes to finish stuff off.

The really annoying thing was I was working through my lunch hour to get everything done, while training a temp to do my 'old job' with no recognition but heaven forbid if you come in 2 minutes late!

I'd done working. I can't go back. I'll either have some great idea and make a fortune or I'll starve to death on The Embankment with all the other Scottish tramps in London.

You should write a memoir of the working years of your life. I'd pay money to read it.

It sucks, but its the same everywhere. You will never get the credit you "deserve" because in reality if you were fired, quit or killed, 1000 people could easily do your job. (And Mine) We are ALL expendable.

My boss has been on vacation for the past two weeks because we have nothing but Roller Derby practices going on. I have basically been doing this for the past two weeks as I handle the practices at night. My boss rarely takes a day off because he has nothing else to live for but his job, so this has been a treat.
I probably won't be doing much the next two weeks either as I cover roller derby practices.

i'm finding it increasingly difficult to listen to other people complain about their jobs, especially when it's one that they love. do mine for a day (and for my salary) and i promise you'd understand.

p6 - why not start setting your own deadlines, and show your bosses you can take the initiative to work even ahead of their schedule?

you're right. it's just been pretty harsh out of nowhere for me this last little while. been worried my job's on the line, which is never any fun.

yeah. already done. I feel much better. just hope they notice. it's just I kind of feel the damage has been done--i.e. I'm still in their bad books even though I'm totally meeting my deadlines & doing a great job. Anyway....

So---the million dollar question: What is it you do for a living?

customer service- chained to a desk, and a phone, all day. if i'm not logged into my phone at the exact minute my shift starts, i get an "occurance." when it's busy, it's call after mindless, monotonous call for 8.5 hours. and i have a college degree.

i'm sorry things are rough with you; hopefully they'll get better soon.
