I'm in. With the amount of hockey I watch in my house, I should be able to hold my own against you guys.

nice.

I set up league. There seem to be a lot of draft days/times left, so let me know if this doesn't work for you. I like to keep scoring simple so things don't get watered down (i.e. you can't totally ignore a category and still win consistently), but if you have suggestions, fire away.

Oh, and we should decide what the winner gets:

- a CD from each loser
- a mix from each loser
- either one of the above; or
- nada

And while were sort of on the subject- DiPietro signed for 15 years???? I knew they ran a strange ship on the Island (Neil Smith, Garth Snow, etc.), but that's just stupid. Haven't they learned anything from signing Yashin for 10 years?

Basically, you draft a "fantasy" roster made up of real life players. Each player in the NHL can only be on one team in this league (i.e. only one team in our league will have Jagr). These players make up your team, and your team accumulates stats based upon the real-life production of your players.

In this league's format, every week, your team competes against another in certain categories. Here, our categories are G, A, +/-, PIM, power play points, wins, goals against avg, saves, and save %. So, for example, if your team has more goals than your opponent for that week, you get a "win" in that category. At the end of the week, the standings are set by how many wins and losses your team had in each category.

In this league, it will be important to have working knowledge of the better players in the NHL. Also, you'll have to check in at least once every few days to make sure your starting lineup in set for each night, as you only accumulate stats for the players in your starting lineup on any given night. (We have 5 bench spots I think, which do not generate stats). You'll also want to check in to drop someone from your roster who isn't playing well or pick up someone who is hot. You can also trade with the other teams in the league.

If that sounds good to you, join us. And feel free to ask more questions, I tried to cover everything I could think of, but may have left something out.

Fantasy sports are fun (IMO) b/c they add a whole new element to following the season and watching the games.

You'll catch on quick. I think my first fantasy sports experience was the CMJ hockey league. I came in second to last. :D

I'd be in but I think I'm away for the draft. Does that preclude me from joining.

I'm in.

So its not just a matter of choosing a team and letting the points accumulate, huh? I adjust my "line-up", (from my roster), with each game. One question...what about injuries, can I replace an injured player?

Yes. You can either drop him outright or put him on an IR slot- when a guy is put on IR by his actual NHL team, yahoo allows you to put him on your fantasy team's IR slot- which means you can pick up someone else without dropping him. We have 2 or 3 IR slots.

No, you can set up a list (or use the default list) to have the computer draft for you. Or, we can reschedule. What day would work you for? I'd like to have it on a Mon-Thurs night, either that first week in Oct before the season starts or the last week in Sept. Does anyone else have availability issues?

I'm in - and I like your choice of stat categories, Nacho.

BTW , I just finished your mix a couple days ago. And seeing as a new season is already starting, I'm gonna throw in a second one to show some gratitude for your patience.

I second OPA's no prize vote. I'll play no matter what, but money is kind of tight lately.

I'll do a mix, but I'm not purchasing a cd for anyone. Oh wait, I'm going to win it all, so what do I care?

Can my roommate join? He's hockey fan #1.
