I thought Americans were the intolerant, Christian zealots and Europe was just sooooo cool?

The concert of the year was -- as is the Material Girl's wont -- the controversy of the year. Madonna's use of the cross as a prop has spawned protests across Europe and led to the arrest last week of a priest in the Netherlands who confessed to calling a fake bomb threat into the Amsterdam stadium where she was performing.

Well they do have all the propaganda (churches, artwork, etc) used to indoctrinate people as Christians when most people couldnt even read, let alone understand much more than the pretty pictures on the wall and vengence over there, right?

Chris, this is good clean, Catholic Hate. Smart Hate, bubba, not the pamphleteer/Schiavo-hull-fucking hate of the Protestant Rural Right ;)

Madonna ignored calls and the mock crucifix went ahead in front of the 50,000 people at the Luzhinski Stadium.

Police had stepped up security for the event.

Luckily the event passed without much incident with only 23 arrests reported.

I make that 0.04% of the attendant crowd. Clearly then Europe is haven of dangerous fundamentalist Christians.

You think she has a "controversy hat" full of cut out words like "crucifix" or "henna tattoos" and every few years she just reaches in, chuckles, and makes plans?

Possibly the funniest thing you have ever uttered. And Openly True.

I don't suppose these offended groups are ever going to realize that every public move Madonna has ever made has been designed to keep her name in print and she's probably the most calculating businesswoman to ever fake orgasm on stage?

I doubt she has a genuinely sacriligeous bone in her brassiere.

Damn fine statement
I wonder where she'll move once they no longer enjoy her presence in Europe. I figure she moved to England because we weren't giving her anymore tabloid press and notoriety.
