Can someone please explain to me how the cover art gets written into the ID3v tag? Does it just make each song file that much bigger, or does the song file reference the cover art file? (Ex: if I take a song, do I need to copy the art file too, or is it part of the mp3 now?)

It references a separate file, I believe.

Great upgrade, it also handles all iTunes plugins and enhancers very easily including AudioScrubbler.

I like the visual element, but it is doing some strange things to my albums. For instance, it is treating my Kinks' Arthur record as five different albums of a few tracks each. The tags are in order, itunes is just confused.

it doesnt seem all that revolutionary to me, maybe i am missing something. i like the new jukebox type viewing and the gapless stuff...but other than that, not much different as far as anything I need to do.

agreed. i update manually as well, so i will never use the jukebox view.

itunes is a memory hog, so i only use it to update my ipod.

i've still got my eyes on that 80GB iPod though :D

gapless seems pretty revolutionary to me (for digital, that is), unless i'm missing another player that's been doing it.

Foobar's done this for years. Winamp's might have been able to do it, too. I'm not sure.

And Rockbox brings gapless playback to portible devices, even iPods.

fucking apple.

I just installed this and then when i try to open iTunes i get:

"QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes."

Which i did, and then i get the same fucking message. So now i've got no way of listening to music on my computer. Faaaaaaantastic.

So did you update your Quicktime to 7.1.3?

I gave the gapless playback the "Abbey Road Test" and it did pretty well.

np: giving it the "Black Foliage Test"
