Now getting a report that police disagree with college officials about three shooters. They say only one.

Bound to be some confusion, but that's a big difference.

WTF...Saturday, there was a shooting at my alma mater. A dad shot his two sons, then turned it on himself. Crazy. Right outside the room I used to live in.

Just caught a bit of this on CP24 in the lunch room at work. I have highschool acquaintances going to school in Montreal but I'm pretty sure they don't go to Dawson.

This is... unexpected? I mean, this is Canada.

Bastard, you beat me to it. :x

It's a shame that happened. Has there ever been a college shooting before?

yeah, that's about right. My father was an undergraduate student there and said he walked past the tower literally ten minutes before all the shooting started. Some nut was firing from up in whatever tower it is they have on their campus, supposedly centrally located. He said it was pretty creepy.

Although it wasn't the same situation at all, the only other shootings I can think of on a college campus besides the U of TX is Kent State.

Jackson State University had a similiar tragedy about two weeks after Kent State.

There was a shooting incident involving Concordia University professor Valery Fabrikant, who killed four people on campus in 1992.

College in Quebec (aka CEGEP) is a little different. Kids go to college before university here, and I think their high school stay is shorter than in other provinces, I think. Anyway.

Yeah. Our High School goes from grade 9 to grade 11,
then we have two years of CEGEP, then University.

So for an Ontario student it would the equivalent of grades 12 and 13.

My roommate and I went to Dawson together (we actually met at the radio statio there). It was pretty weird watching the news coverage of it wth him. Pretty freaky.

well, apparently yesterday the news said one dead, nineteen injured, and the gunman shot dead as well. Is that what all the stories are saying now?

I think they've taken down his VampireFreak profile. It was somewhat disturbing and pitiful to view. He posted an inane blog two hours before the shooting about whiskey, breakfast, and contact lenses. There were comments strewn throughout like "Life is a video game, you gotta die sometime", talking about how he wanted to die in a hail of bullets, Megadeth rulez, etc. He was really fucking pathetic, and this is all incredibly sad.

Though that guy's face is somewhat similar to mine and I will own up to wearing clothes like that (in 1985, fergodsake), that HAIR has all the hallmarks of KILLAH.

Yup.

2 dead: the shooter and a victim.

18 others injured, a bunch of those in critical condition.

When I originally told people here at work about it I think they thought I mean "a shooting" as in some kind of targeted gang violence which is becoming common here in TO.

I was about 3 molecules away from being a goth when I went to that school. My fav band at the time: Dead Can Dance.

Agreed. It was just this first goth-like musical example I thought of from that time in my life.

How about: The band I joined was formerly a Sisters of Mercy cover band?
