So Return to Cookie Mountain still says copyright Touch & Go Records, although with licensing to Interscope. What's up with that?

interscope - label in the us
4ad - label in the uk
t&g - original label which probably still own rights

complicated b.s. like that.

Original label for what? This album never came out on T&G.

And why would Interscope need T&G to distribute it? Or are you saying the other way around?

what i meant was tvotr was originally on touch & go: tvotr. i'm assuming the reason why t&g is on the new album is because they probably still own publishing rights. publishing & distributing are 2 completely different entities.

most indie labels are distributed by the majors, so it's interscope distributing touch & go.

I know they were on T&G for their first album, but bands switch labels all the time and they usually don't have this sort of (c) and (p) info about former labels on the CDs. And other T&G releases don't have other labels listed either. I was wondering what the special case was.

i'm assuming interscope doesn't own the rights to tvotr's music. and t&g does. and that is what i've been trying to say... so that's probably why they are still on there.

I guess that makes sense. This is just the first I heard of them still being associated with T&G.

IIRC, TVOTR was on david letterman this week. i knew they are up-and-comers but for some reason it was surprising.

Wild guess: They still owed Touch & Go another record, so part of Interscope's buyout of their contract was a co-release deal.

Didn't Nirvana's Nevermind have both Geffen and Sub Pop logos on the cover?

I thought the cover art looked awfully v23 (which it is).

Yeah, the art is clearly 4AD.

That makes sense about the buyout co-release.
