I was really happy to be a part of this. Great work everyone, especially Shmoo and KPH.

So, any chance of the blurbs being put on a homepage kinda dealie or is that too much like what a few other boards have done?

If we put them in their own spot it'll be a nice read for websurfers happening upon Obner. Unless all those people are just looking for porn, I guess.

Thanks, Fractured, for your kind words about me 'n' Kate. I haven't actively stalked her since 1992, though.

Nice work y'all. A few surprises, but not too much. Glad to see Sam Beam got a high placement. Yeah, we're a mellow board but that suits me just fine.

No, it'd be a nice read for them, too.

I enjoyed each of the blurbs as I am now inclined to check out a few discs I passed on last year, but the above quote (A.C. Newman's Slow Wonder disc) is spot on for me right now.

i volunteer to not do a standalone web page version of the list, but i think it'd be swell if someone did it and a permanent link was added to the bottom of obner.org for things like the Shmoo polls, user photos, etc.

I got nothing to say except to express appreciation for Shmoo's toil and offer kudos to everyone else who helped put this together.

I just don't see any upside to arguing about the end results. The Shmoo poll isn't a list based on critical evaluation. It's basically a list of averages, meaning the albums with the broadest appeal are gonna score the most points. As such, and given the stated preferences of Obnicians, there isn't (nor could there be) a single surprise on the list.

I'm happy to put the list up as our frontpage if someone wants to make one that isn't totally sucky. Otherwise, I'll get to it myself when I have time.

Me, too. But I'll echo the sentiments of everybody else and thank all of the principles, blurbists, and obstitricians who made it possible;

I think I had or liked most of those albums (mainstream indie anyone?) Still don't "get" the Animal Collective but what the fuck?

Nice work, chilluns...

Someone should find an A C Newman album cover.

I mean, come on, I put up nineteen out of the twenty.

Yail Bloor - put in the Animal Collective album, skip to track 2 (Who Could Win a Rabbit), and be happy. Who can hear that song and not be happy? Verily, only Hitler.

Just did it. Ok. I still don't feel it brother. If it is supposed to be avant garde/drug music, I guess I'm not as burned out as I used to be when I listened to the Surfers, Mr. Bungle, John Zorn, whatever all day. (and smoked so much dope, it affected the economies of small nations of home growers)

Honestly, that song is ok, but its just not GREAT. I guess my deal with A.C. is like a lot of people are with Arcade Fire-----it just doesn't get me.

No big deal though. :::switches back to Afghan Wigs:::: I ain't mad at cha. I am glad someone finally took the bait on my recent undercover Animal Collective bashing. I figured Ish would be the first to call me out, but you took the bait.

Nice. Mike Jones. Big Time Curtis.

I'll tear yo daddy's heart out.

And then sick my lawyers on you, Mr. Student.

Edit: And through it all, the Animal Collective will still suck. I mean Panda Bear? Its laughable. What kind of front for child molestation are these sickos running.
