"When The Lights Go Out" from Rubber Factory popped up at random on my iPod this morning, and it's a perfect illustration of why I think that album is by far their weakest effort. It's just so damn sluggish compared with the energy crackling from their other albums.

I think Rubber Factory has a nice balance of songs...The Lenghts is one of my favorite songs of theirs and it doesn't really have that crackling energy at all..10 A.M. Automatic on the other hand crackles just as good as any of their songs. I'll admit, when the lights go out is prolly the weakest track on the album though

I listened to the new one this afternoon. It was solid but pretty unspectacular.

I don't care if they're one of those bands who gets lumped into the 'all their albums sounds the same' group, I'll buy and enjoy anything they put out.

I'm a huge fan of these guys. Saw them last November and they kicked ass. Their Live DVD is top notch too. It also has interviews and videos.

Is that the one where they perform on that Hassidic local cable access show, with all the elderly Jewish women going ga-ga for them?

That may be true; I just figured that was the sound they were going for.

I love this album. I've always liked their stuff, but only for about 3-4 songs. I played this one twice in row earlier today, and now I'm back to it again.

Love this band. New album is great in my book. Rubber Factory was completely a grower.

For those of you who picked up this release, is that a teeshirt transfer or a temp tattoo? It kinda reminds me of transfers you'd get in cereals as a kid in the 80s, which completely meshes with their style, but I don't want to screw up a tee trying.

Hmmm do I need a third Black Keys record? It's something to think about.
