That was '93 or '94. If you count BBSs, then '91 or '92.

Had a friend in highschool, so 92-ish, who had Prodigy service. All I remember about it is going to the VW website to see the new 93 models, and they were greyscale drawings.

In college, bout 96, I got a laptop from my dad (Pentium 100, 14.4 modem, no cd drive, that he paid $5,000 for 2 years prior), and got an AOL account.

I think somewhere around 1997 while in highschool. I would look up and (illegally [!]) print out page upon page of matchbox twenty information.

Against the laws of both the land AND decency!

Indeedly. I still cling to my Def Leppard fascination, though. Hewie Lewis, too.

I have roots even deeper and darker than matchbox twenty. I chose not to share.

Fast forward a couple years and we were able to hook you up with free AOL. Rememebr that shit? Christ, that was by far the WORST job I ever had. (AOL Cancellation Dept.)

In the early/mid 80's somebody gave us a modem for our Atari 800, but we werent really able to do much with it in terms of accessing BBS or whatever it was.

I guess it was either '94 or '95 when we got it in the library at UGA. They also had some ghetto email and registration network...but the speed (T1) was fast.

I remember going home for Christmas and my parents had got a new computer and had Prodigy dialup, but I couldnt understand why it was so fucking slow.

I'd like to forget those $250-300 / month charges.

Stu, guess you saw "Everything's Illuminated"?

Just saw it last week. Totally loved it. Great soundtrack too.

Nice Sig. :)
