MSNBC is reporting Johnny Carson succumbed to emphysema at age 79.

No details I see yet.

EDIT: Fox News reporting the same. No links, but it's on the tube.

I suppose all the comeback talk should be put to rest, then.

But, there shall be now the question, who will jack off Letterman to make him feel better when the next ratings hit and show Leno out-pacing the gap-toothed Ball Stater by-far?

How does he rate 21 points? Old, lung disease, he was due. Now, when Paris Hilton OD's, that'll be worth something.

all death pool selections start with a base of 100 minus the deceased's age equals points.

100 - 79 = 21 points.

Thx. That makes a lot of sense. I thought there would've been some graduated scale with bonus points or something akin to the celebrity thread from a few days ago.

That is a shame, he was pretty cool. Just watched the Simpsons where he was a guest on the "Krusty Comeback Special" as the greatest entertainer of all time. good times.

But who knows, maybe not for much longer. That is, I believe all three previous Tonight Show hosts -- Allen, Paar, Carson -- have died in the last three or four years. So, maybe hosting TS is like opening King Tut's tomb.

Bye-bye, Jay?
