True. But they performed sterling service in that I didn't get a blister.

Image

Got off the bus at Buchaille Etive Mor to hushed tones and general amazement from most of the other people on the coach since it's pretty much the middle of nowhere. Fucking townies.

Image

After a tough slog up and over the ridge of Meall a' Buiridh (a steep ascent isn't really the ideal way to start a hike), there was 16 miles of moor to cover. It was a bit overcast and not really suited to taking pictures.

Image

I know the names of all the hills except this one...Cleach something or other.

Image

After coming off the moor there was a good road to the little hamlet of Inveroran. I nipped into the pub for a coke (no drinking booze since I still had some walking to do) but that turned out to be a mistake because sitting for half an hour or so stiffened me up and then having to climb over that hill (only 1,500 feet, but steep and at the end of a long day) turned out to be a bit of a nightmare.

Image

I had to have an other rest at the top of the hill and took the opportunity to take a pic of whence I'd came. Nice stop, I could have stayed there longer but I had a bus to catch at Bridge of Orchy a couple of miles over the other side of the hill.

Good day. Weather could have been better but it also could have been worse. These are kind of the crappy pictures because Caedes gets the best ones exclusively. But you have to review 10 pictures for everyone you submit so it might be a while before they are up.

Looks like great fun. Wandering is a highlight to any day. Perhaps your pics didn't capture it properly, but the weather looked actually quite nice.

The morning was kind of shitty, then it brightened up for a while in the afternoon and then it went back to being overcast. But overall the light was poor for taking pictures (especially since the aperture is broken on my camera), the air was hazy and although the clouds cleared the mountain tops they were casting dark shadows over them that made it virtually impossible to photograph them.

But I've just gone through them all and there are maybe 15 - 20 out of 240 that I think are pretty good...better than I was expecting to be honest.

If you would have brought almost any of us along, we would have most likely reenacted that scene in Trainspotting where Tommy wants to go on a hike, and Renton talks about how being Scottish is shite.

Nice photos.

So how long did the hike take in total? Also, did you listen to any music during this?

Caedes is a desktop wallpaper site that I submit photographs too.

And SP, it took me 5 and a half hours to do the 15 miles or so from Kinghouse to Bridge of Orchy with a couple of short rests. There's a couple of steep climbs at the beginning and end but most of the way is a nice gentle descent off the moor into Glen Orchy.

Walking in the opposite direction (Orchy to Kinghouse) is much harder, you can add on two or three more hours to your journey time. I did that in May and it took me 8 hours in attrocious weather (hail, torrential rain).

Oh and I have a Fuji FinePix 9500S bought with the money my dad gave me because I'm "obviously never going to get married".
