Sorry if this has been addressed a hundred times before, but I need some help. My dad has been looking for some songs, so some of them I purchased and downloaded off of iTunes. Of course, they are in the mp4 format, but I thought I'd be able to burn them to a CD through iTunes. However, even though I've purchased the tunes twice now (once at work and once at home) I can't burn them (because they are protected AAC files).

Why is this so, and is there a way around it (say to convert the files to mp3)?

I did a search on here and found a program called JHymn, but it couldn't do the conversion.

TIA

Sorry if I sound like I'm asking a stupid question, but have you burned CDs from Itunes before? You are aware that you have to make a playlist and then burn that playlist, right? Meaning, create a new playlist, then drag the songs you want, even if it's just an entire album, into that playlist, then right-click on the playlist and select "Burn playlist to disc."

You should have a certain number of burns associated with the track, like 4 or 5, i think.

I've run into lots of copy protected and convertion issues too, but I've had success with some programs:

Xilisoft Audio Converter
http://www.topvideopro.com (check out the free version)
Provides an easy and completed way to convert between various audio formats, such as MP3, WAV, WMA, MP4, M4A, MP2, VQF, APE, OGG, AAC and FLAC.

Tunebite Converter (again free version first)
http://www.tunebite.com
Record copy-protected music, audio books and video clips in WMA, M4A, M4P, AA, M4B, WMV and M4V formats by playing them and save them as unprotected MP3, OGG, WMA, WMV or MPEG4 files you can use anywhere!
Tunebite legally frees you from the hassles of DRM copy-protection!

Yes, many times. What's happening is that it tells me that certain files are not able to be burned (i.e., the ones I downloaded off iTunes) and gives me the option of burning the other ones without the ones I downloaded from iTunes.
