It's funny to me, alcoholism is mentioned with more disgust and vagrance within the bible 10,000 times over homosexuality. I wonder why we don't witch hunt alcoholics?

The actual Dobson statement has to do with the We Are Family video that has a bunch of cartoon charaters in it. The conservs aren't condemning the cartoon characters directly, but are against the use of children's characters in a pro-tolerance (pro-gay, as they call it) campaign.

That's a little bit less goofy, but not much.

What's confusing to me is the lack of logic in these peoples' outrage.

It seems to me that there is a difference between "promoting homosexuality" and teaching "tolerance".

The reality of the situation is that gay people do exist in the world--depicting them is simply depicting reality. On top of that, it is totally appropriate to depict them in a video about tolerance because they are a group of people who are often treated without tolerance.

Saying that you do not want to depict them in a video about tolerance is pretty much contradicting the original message of the video.

Stooopid.

(as an aisde: IMO the notion of "tolerance" is the bear minimum; it is an attempt to acknowledge that not everyone may share the same views, but that we could at least agree not to beat the shit out of eachother based on our views.)
