How much funnier would this be if this was who leaked the names?

So, do the Grimsleys and Cansecos think they'll somehow look less pathetic if they spread the blame? I have no idea if people like Tejada use steroids, but I seriously doubt Clemens does. Anyway, there's nothing in this article that approaches investigative journalism. It's all speculation, accusation and unreturned phone calls.

Clemens is too smart to jeapordize his legendary status.

And if he's not, fuck him.

The difference with Roger is that he's 44 years old so it won't seem weird at all for him to go away now forever and just play the denial game forever. (the Mark McGwire strategy)

The Jordan one still doesnt make any sense whether you believe in the conspiracy or not.

We'll see how normal you act when your dad is killed and raped at a rest stop.
Sorry to say it like that, but I just don't think that situation lends itself to rational behavior.

Oh, and Frosted, you don't think Clemmons 1996-97 resurgence Cy Youngs are fishy? And his sustained dominance....

SRSLY, this isn't a 2001 thing, Canseco is talking the LATE EIGHTIES! Everyone is guilty.

Exactly. And you and I have been on this since at least 1999; the problem is that people still think that steroids only make you into Lee Haney. They have no idea how much they have really altered (especially the pitching) aspect of the game.

By the way, Ive never heard his name mentioned once but Id like to throw Tim Hudsons name out there--A. he played in Oakland and B. he went from being one of the most dominant arms in the game to DONE in less than 18 months.

Funny you say this, since all the arm-chair scientists on this board always use career years as "evidence" of steroids. I have no idea if Brian Roberts used steroids last year, but people have been having career years for a long time. And Marvin Benard was suspended for steroids and he barely had a career, let alone a career year.

I'm not sure what you mean by playing in Oakland, unless you're just talking about the Canseco/McGwire thing. But if so, did Hudson even overlap with McGwire?

As for being done, yeah, he's had a bad year, but only one after about seven good ones. People have bad years, it doesn't mean they quit steroids.

What I mean is that Oakland is known to be one of the most 'roided out teams in this whole deal. Perhaps you are aware that the B and A in BALCO stands for "Bay Area"?

Perhaps you've heard of the Giambi brothers?

As to Hudson, it may just be a coincidence, but his descent into the suck happened at the exact moment that they started testing for steroids. By all reason and logic, he should have actually become a better pitcher after moving to the National League because of the lack of solid hitting in comparison to the AL, but something is missing and it all goes back to recovery between starts, which he doesnt seem to have anymore.

Actually, I'm not one to point out career years as evidence of steroid use, I'm pointing out that almost every person actually caught using steroids has been a pitcher...

Oh, I wasn't saying you were, just talking about the board in general.

Have most of them been pitchers? I guess I haven't been paying close attention. Is there a list somewhere?

Guess it makes sense for pitchers though. Make their arms recover faster.

Shmoo, you can go here and check out every major and minor leaguer who has tested positive.

and yeah, thats my point about steroids not necessarily making you into a muscle bound freak. its much more about recovery over a 162 game season.

Yeah, if Roger's been doing this all along I can understand he'd just engage in flat-out denial and rely on goodwill to get himself past evidence.

But if he just started post-2001, he's a moron.

Funny you mention Piazza....Any thoughts on how a dude goes from the 82nd round pic cos his daddy is friends with Lasorda to most home runs be a catcher?

id say almost all catchers are suspect. when benito santiago played for the giants at about age 45 his arms were totally ripped.

Also, he was 62nd round. Not that it makes much difference, but I figured we should get the facts right before we start wildly speculating.
