I consider their latter-day records to be equals, but i think the Beach Boys early singles are waaay better than the Beatles'. That's why i go with the Beach Boys.

As a composer, Brian Wilson was on another level than that of Lennon/McCartney. Just try playing even a simple early Beach Boys song like California Girls and you'll see that it's just that much harder to play than a Beatles song; more complicated and rich arrangement, more rewarding. But hey, that's just me.

With that logic Emerson, Lake & Palmer are better than the Ramones.

By his own admission, Wilson's masterpiece was an attempt to 'top' one of The Beatles less lauded albums ('Rubber Soul'). Doing so left Wilson completely shot, while the Beatles would go up several gears after 1966.

Beatles, but I would put the Stones above them and probably a few other bands, but that is just me.

Beatles, by default as I only know Pet Sounds and assorted other big singles.

Yeah, I know I should rectify that

It's easy to take The Beatles for granted, but they are the mofos who completely rewrote the book on pop music.

The Beach Boys are great, and I frequently laud Pet Sounds as my favorite album ever, but even they would have been just another teenage pop band, if not inspired by The Beatles.

So, yeah... Beatles, for sure.

I'd probably pick Beatles over Beach Boys. Although I should say that I'm not really a big Beatles fan. I like (stress like) a few of their albums, but they've always paled in comparison to The Rolling Stones.

Pretty much anyone over the Beatles.

Definitely Beach Boys and Stones. Hell, even the Monkees.
