I don't think so, what has there been one notable unicorn band and two bands with Swan in the name in the last decade. I think Wolf is still in a league of its own, Horse might be getting up there too.

"Unicorn" and "swan" have gotten a lot of use in the past few years, not so much from band names as names of all sorts of other things, lyrics, and general imagery. Part of the whole hipster irony thing, as those are big time kitschy '70s-'80s fantasy imagery.

"Mountain" seems to be a huge theme lately. I've got at least three albums from this year with "Mountain" in the title.

I love how in that thread, I copied & pasted Dusty Chalk's entire post as if it were my own and no one seemed to notice.

Someone posted this in an old thread about the recent crop of Wolf bands, but I think it bears re-posting since there appear to be even more references to wolves in indie rock. I find it hard to believe that TV on the Radio can name a song "Wolf Like Me" with a straight face after so much wolfiness in rock lately. But then, I guess they named their album "Return to Cookie Mountain." So, all bets are off with them.

My favorite new Wolf name is Olympia Black Metal band "Wolves in the Throne Room."

Here's what Klosterman said:

Swans and Wild Swans have been around ages. The others are upstarts and need slapping.

Those two bands alone though should be left out the equation, then basically don't you have one new band and a Thom Yorke song with the word Swan in it.
If I was Swan Lake, I'd be more concerned with the Ballet crowd getting confused.
