Took Kilborn's smarm and pop-culture reference bs, combined it with America's secret longing for acceptance by the negro hepcat, and DESTROYED sports commentating, Sportscenter, and ESPN.

YES. Plus the fact that he is always constantly "reppin' the Heels" since he went to UNC. I'd like to punch him in his lazy eye.

"I wanna pee in Stuart Scott's good eye" - talk show host John Renshaw

With Kilborn, I always got the feeling that the whole smarm thing was a goof - a character. And I loved his late nite CBS show.

With Stuart Scott, it's all "look how cool I am" in a serious manner. He's like a white guy trying to act "black".

i mostly only watch football, and i dislike most of them. they don't focus on the game enough. they celebrate the stars too much despite the game. (how many times do i have to hear how much favre likes to play??) they make wrong calls. they're not technical enough. they spew too many cliches without really saying anything.

madden's one of the worst if not the worst. al michael's is now his sounding board tool. he doesn't call games, but load-mouth michael irvin needs to be jettisoned NOW. (i love his season mvp choice so far, steve smith.) poor boomer is suffering of old age slipping up often. theisman's an idiot. i wish i had the ability to listen to the games on the radio simultaneously while flipping thru my sunday ticket games. Radio coverage generally follows the game more than blabs about T.O.'s latest escapade or some other unrelated sidebar crap.

an example of a good crew was the espn backups that did the second game of the opening mnf doubleheader. especially vermeil. coaches have a lot more insight about football than simple broadcasters or even players.

Along the lines of Lou Holtz, Shannon Sharpe is absolutely impossible to understand while calling highlights during CBS's halftime or pre-game or post-game.

I do believe we have found the title for the second Johnny Taint album.

The two people in sports broadcasting I would most like to have their voice boxes permanently disabled are both in the employ of ESPN:

Mark May
Sean Salisbury

McCarver definitely is a good choice, but I'm going to pick Joe Theisman. He is annoying and incredibly biased.

Example from last night: Buckhalter muffs a handoff from McNabb. Theisman says something to the effect of "I have always believed that when an exchange like that goes wrong it is the quarterback's fault."
Later, Morency does the same thing with a handoff from Favre, and Theisman says something like "That time Morency didn't let Favre give him the ball." Kornheiser could be good in the right situation, but that booth will always suck with Theisman and Mike Tirico there.

I had turned the game off by the time Morency coughed it up, but Theisman was dead right on the McNabb fault.

Rachel Nichols has been added to my list.

Not that she's ever in the booth. I don't mean to be sexist again, but why do all the women sound like anchors on, to quote Gar, "flyover country's" local news stations?

Scripted, pretty-faced pointlessness.
