Of course, I took photos...but I'll have to load 'em another day. So, for now you'll have to make do with the written word.

Sold out show at my beloved Troubadour. The Dears were as spectacular as the last time I saw them. Mixing new with old tunes, they played for almost two hours. Murray barely said a word until the very end, thanking and informing us of how much he loves LA ("it's my favourite city in the United States of America"). Murray, do you say that in all the other cities you've been in? Ya rascal you! Patrick does not cease to amaze me at his guitar skills. And, George is mindblowing on the drums! I seriously think my heart was desperately trying to keep rhythm with the bass drum all night long.

And, Polly, if you're reading this -- I chatted with George a bit after the show. "Hey, weren't you in a band called Marlowe?" I've posed the question to him in the past but thought I'd ask again. He looked at me in astonishment and said, "How did you know?!" So, of course, I mention my lovely friend, Alex, and his eyes lit up! "I just saw her last week in Toronto. It has been a couple of years since we've seen each other! She looks great!" He raved about you, how wonderfully talented you are ("she's got more talent than a lot of us") and was very sweet. It was quite apparent that he has a lot of respect for you. Thought I'd pass that on to make your day. :)

As for Fields -- I've been reading a bit on 'em but had only briefly heard one of their songs and was eager to check 'em out for myself. Sadly, I had missed them open for The Presets last week and anticipated tonight. Great electro pop mixed with loud guitars -- like having vanilla ice cream with your slice of hot apple pie -- so so good! I know many of you would like 'em (I'm looking at you, E'stone, IdiotJed, Dalen, bg13 and more!) Here's a couple of sites for you to check 'em out: www.myspace.com/fieldsband.com and www.fieldsband.com . Btw, you'll definitely like the femme singer who just so happens to be Icelandic.

See Polly, your famous friends aren't slighting you.

This is very sweet. It's so cool that you said hi to him. Yeah, I did just saw him recently here in TO. He'll always be like a little bro to me, such a sweet guy. I love watcing him play too. I mean I love watching the Dears in general (Murray will always be one of my favorite singers), but Georgie is just crazy live---so much energy. Thanks for posting this, sweet thang. :)

Ohh heck yeah, he's JUST like Animal!! He hits the skins so damn hard.

Another story from last night -- my friend, Diane, was waiting to get the band to sign her set list. George came down, talked to her for a bit and offered to get everyone to sign it. So, off he runs upstairs, runs back down cuz Murray is now onstage and manages to obtain everyone's signature. Very nice of him, we thought. But then another kid showed up, asked George for his autograph and there he goes again, running to get signatures, returns to Murray and says, "Hey, black man! Sign this." Murray looks to see who it's for and notices that the kid is also black. "Heyyyyyyy, look!! Another black man!" Obviously, a couple of comedians -- we thought it was funny. :)

Yeah, they're funny dudes. Although I can confirm that Murray does love to see a little black action in the audience. Maybe it's more common these days, but it used to be that if he saw one black dude he'd be all: "Now I know I'm doing something right". :)
