Remember this idiot with the weak feminine voice from the early 90's? The hideously sappy ballads with the piano? <<Retch>>

Definitely the most amateur "singer/songwriter" ever...

Also, let's throw Eddie Money into the ring. On the fast track to join a family of Brooklyn cops, somehow he did a swan dive off the roof of the NYPD Academy into a coke spoon and rock stardom.

OK I should be fired because I knew the lyrics to that. I'll stop now. :D

How 'bout the Dirty? O.D.B. clearly should not have been headed to pop-star status... Nor Pharrell for that matter, who I consider inseperable from Dirt McGirt since "Got Yer Money" proved the Neptunes first huge score.

As well, let's dish Rivers Cuomo into this souffle. Probably Isaac Brock and Steve Harwell (hope I have that correct; either way, lead singer of Smash Mouth).

Note: This ain't directed at you Swiateck, you just brought up the name.

Why is there so much hate for John Mayer? I mean I'm not a fan of most of his music but the guy can fucking RIP on guitar, he writes decent songs, and well, he got famous; so what? Player hatin'? :wanker:

Unlikely rock stars? Hmmm. I think even the most unlikely of rock stars had secret aspirations all along. I mean, when Mick was studying accounting at the London School of Econmics he was surely dreaming of his future exploits....

Shit, you could say the earliest "rock" players were the most unlikely because they had no rock stars to aspire to be. It was a crapshoot. Kinda like how being a professional athlete use to be more akin to running away and joining the circus than making a good living.

his voice is so weak that when he screams it is barely audible, plus he sucks at guitar...and no, he doesn't write decent songs

I don't think Phil Collins writes good songs, but I digress.

I'll say Jennifer Lopez. How she went from In Living Color to her dizzying heights is beyond my comprehension.

Selling anthems about gay sex to middle America in the the 70's definitely makes this group unlikely pop stars.
