Who was it on here that knew a Roller Derby person or lived with one? Lincoln is playing the Chi-town Derby girls on November 3rd and I was curious to know who to look for and see if they were any good. I'm guessing Chicago will win since the girls from Lincoln have only been doing it for about a year.

I've only heard that the Chicago team is horrible. But, this was coming from someone who plays for one of the Seattle teams and is pretty hardcore.

That maybe true, but Lincoln has only played Omaha so far and Omaha is even more inexperienced than Lincoln. I only ever hear how good the KC and Twin cities teams are around here, as well as the Texas teams on tv.

I wish I could rollerskate and weren't afraid of falling and broken bones. Man, I'd totally roller derby my ass off.

Are your girls coming down here or vice versa?

Chicago is coming here, if I was actually going to Chicago to watch a derby, I'd try to hook everyone up with passes and finally meet the Obnerians.

I know a roller derby girl in LA.

I'm not going anywhere with that.

I kind of just want to wear the uniform and helmet and have a permanent scowl on my face. And growl a lot. I'd growl if I were a derby girl.

Promethium, I emailed my ex and his gf (she's a rd girl in seattle) to find out what they think of the lincoln/chicago match-up. Might be nothing, might be something. We'll see.

Was she a burly enforcer type girl or a super skinny fast girl? That seems to be the two types of derby girls. Both types can kick alot of ass, but the big girls seem to bring the pain like linebackers.

4' 11". not skinny and not burly at all. very curvy.
and strong as shit. they would practice throwing each other over tables and 101 ways to abuse someone with a folding chair while skating.
it was fun to hang out with them. most of the guys were of the very feminine gay persuasion but could totally kick your ass.

These are all girls with lots of tattoos and piercings. I only know of one of them being a butch lesbian, the rest are borderline promiscuous and I believe one or two used to be strippers.

FT is too good. My former roommate is a member of the Windy City Rollers, a separate league.

Ok, I didn't even know there was a serious league going, Lincoln is just playing about anyone to establish their travel team, since they only have two local league teams.

Lincoln is playing the Chi-Town Sirens.

I don't even know if the Windy City Rollers ever play against the Chi-Town Sirens. The Rollers are subdivided into 4 teams that play against each other, with occasional trips out of the area.

Where do they usually do the derby's in Chicago? Do they have any banked track places or is it all flat track like Lincoln. Since the No Coast Derby girls play at the arena I work at, they play at one of the largest venues for derby play.

They play at this place, where the track is as flat as can be:

Fugazi, The Ex and Shellac played there a few years ago - good show.

The Chicago team is as crappy as Lincoln from what I heard tonight. Both teams are in their first year of competition and a few of the Lincoln girls competed against them at some event in Las Vegas and weren't really impressed.

Red,
They are trying to get a match against the Sacramento team, so they have some west coast/left coast competition, you should tell your friends from Seattle to contact them.
