I went to this hip kids store to buy some jeans. I guess that I'm a fat old man, because i've never heard of any of these brands and couldn't find an inseam measurement on any of them. christ i hate shopping for myself. what am i doing wrong here? or rather, what should i be looking for?

I should just go back to sears. does target sell jeans?

Old navy will give you what you need. Plus, they seem to always have a sale where you can get those painters or mechanics jeans for $6 a pair.

What's a "hip kids store"?

Do you have a Levi's store in your area? Gap? Nordstrom?

Which place? I mean, where on a scale of "some mall bullshit" to "Diesel / G-Star" would it fall?

If you want fashionable jeans, that look expensive and fit just right, then you'll have to have your wife drag you into a snotty place like mine did and drop a hundred and fifty bucks on a pair. They do look much, much better than just plain ol jeans, but gott-damn.

No you shouldn't and yes they do.

At least you wear a normal size. I have little alternative but "baggy" on the one hand and "fits but costs more than a months' wortha groceries" on the other.

closer to the diesel side of things...and probably way past it. the kids in there certainly looked hip enough and I felt like a Narc.

yeah i knew that i was looking at dropping some cash, but i've been running a lot lately and now my two pairs of jeans make me look like...well, like you would look wearing my jeans.

I had good luck, once I just mentally drew a normal face on the ass clown that sold me the jeans. The boo-hoo haircut, the tortured, nobody-understands-me pout, the "I just got outta bed" look that takes an hour and a half to put together... these places repel me.

However, I did like the jeans I got, and I was making candy money at the time.

Target does in fact sell relatively decent jeans. It was the last place I bought new jeans, the rest of the time I go to vintage or thrift stores. I always try to find jeans that match my inseam and then my waist. I'm freaking thin and have a long inseam, so I have basically given up finding jeans that perfectly fit my waist.

I have also given up finding both the inseam and the waist that fit all in one pair. Now I just get the right waist size, but they're always 2 inches too long, so I wear the riding boots every day (black, inconspicuous), and it doesn't seem to matter.... they just bunch up down there a bit.

I don't even know the outrageous try on:buy ration of my life regarding jeans.

They just don't make them for me.

Yeah, I bought a few pants there last week. They had every conceivable combination of waist and inseam, including my own, which obviously pleased me greatly. I always have good luck at that establishment.

I go into a store and know in about 6 seconds whether shit's gonna work out or not. Just go far left on the size wall, and see if they stop at 30 or 28. If they have 28's, then we're talking, but even so a lot of them run FAAAAT for a "28". Then of course they're 32 lengths, which is like 3 too long. boo hoo, woe is me, etc. At least I don't have to hunt around in the middle.
