I had an uncle who confronted some guys about their loud music once and they proceeded to beat the shit out of him on their front porch.

and then what happened?

I don't remember, I was only 12 or so. I'd have to ask my mother. This was the late 80s. Maybe people are more cordial nowadays.
:)

I think most public school teachers would not concur with that statement.

Yep. Regardless of which era the world would always be divided into the very good and the very bad, those in between only play loud music or shoplift.

My advice, get out of downtown/east-side/riverwest/third ward, wherever it is that is hip that you live. Move west, but stay in Milwaukee if possible, and rent a flat -- upper in duplex, or something similar. Have many fewer neighbours, hopefully an owner-occupied downstairs (or upstairs), & not have to deal with any of this.

My upstairs neighbor must work late night, cause for a while he/she would come home every night around 1:30am-2am, and proceed to walk 'heavily' in what must be steel toe boots. I swear, spackle from my ceiling would come off....and it would be pacing and pacing.

i let my doorman know, and he said something to the tenant and it never happened again!

my neighbors are still at it. I've been down there twice to knock on their door when the music has been really loud (with two fans a humidifier, the window open (on a downtown milwaukee street in front of a bus stop) and all doors shut (music is coming from directly below our front door) it shakes the pictures on our walls (it's all bass). When i've been down there they give me some shit and then go completely overboard and scream to their party that the neighbors upstairs are complaining and they complete shut everything down. When i go down there i merely ask that they turn it down a bit (typically because my wife has to work the next day)...or at least turn the bass down. Since the last time i've been down there they've continued to blare the music.

Other than call the cops (our apartment people don't care)...what sort of things can i do to annoy the piss out of them?

What would you do?

by the way....i'm their only neighbor near their stereo, so they'll know it's me if the cops show up.

i plan on getting up early tomorrow to knock on their door and thank them for the bass. we'll see.

I've had a similar problem with my downstairs neighbors. They moved in a couple months ago, a mother and her 19 year old son.

For a few weeks in a row, apparantly when the mom's been out, he's had a bunch of his boys over drinking heavily, shouting, wrestling, and blasting music late at night. Usually on weekdays when I had to work.

I ignored it for a few weeks, and when it was on appropriate days (like the weekend, not fucking Wednesday). But it became a constant annoyance for a few weeks in a row.

I sure as shit wasn't going to go downstairs at 2 in the morning to "politely" ask a bunch of drunk teenagers to turn it down. I put up for it as long as possible, and then finally at another 2 a.m. occurrence (on a Wednesday) I just snapped and called the fuzz.

There hasn't been a peep since. If I knew there were adults partying down there nonstop for weeks on end, I would've been more inclined to talk to them. But the fact that it was a buncha young fucks who weren't even paying the rent disturbing me, the cops were the best solution.

Hmm, I seem to recall myself also drinking and getting more and more pissed as the night went on. I finally decided on calling the cops! Seriously, there's only so long you can put up with it.

In my opinion, it's either that, or waking up super early in the morning and making sure they don't get any sleep. And all that's gonna do is cause more trouble.

Matt, if you think it might escalate to violence, you really should call the cops.

No, but I'm sure either Nacho or myself will start one as soon as Yahoo gets the baseball leagues going.

You win because you cheat and try to make trades with simpletons like Timmy. :D

Personally, I believe any trade that Timmy is involved in should be reviewed by the commisioner before completed.
