They are like the Postal Service? I thought he was more singer songwriter like Badly Drawn Boy but emo.

There are two BE albums released today (which you probably already know). One being the country flavored singer songwriter, and one electronic based. Not being a fan of the alt.country stuff, Digital Ash For A Digital Urn runs more to my own tastes. It is really similar to Postal Service although having gone through it once, I still prefer the Postal Service. Haven't read any reviews but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the critics overwhelmingly prefer I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning Seems I'm never quite on the same page as the cool guys.

I passed on Bright Eyes. Only new release I bought was M83. Passed on Chemical Brothers too.

Bought two other cds, though.

erm, do you read the board often?

Actually...this is my second board and I've been quite busy the past couple of weeks. If there was a big discussion on the Chemical Brothers new release I did in fact miss it. Mea culpa. I resign myself to whatever penalties/chastising that I am due. :)

This board does seem to move at a pretty rapid pace which is good and bad. Topics are often run over to page two and I don't always have time at the end of the day to cover two or three pages of topics. Also, although I'm a bit reluctant to bring this up, there are a great many topics introduced to the board that have little if anything to do with music so perhaps you can see where someone like myself may have missed something relevant.

Thanks though, I'll do my search right now!

No sweat Dalen, I did find the thread, but of course as my luck would have it, I can't get that particular page to load. Figures.

So do you dislike the general discussion? Or was that just a point as to why you couldn't find the topic? This is just an inquiry.

Nope, general discussion suits me just fine. Just yesterday I saw a hypnotized women having an orgasm on stage and have learned some profanities that may come in handy sometime down the road. It's just the point that with all those posts running throughout the day that sometimes a thread will get pushed back fairly quickly and someone like myself may miss a topic of interest simply because there are so many posts and threads to get through. Not enough time in the day to see it all.

Rushed, and bought, and it was on sale, and it's a purty thing.

(Forgive me getting prog-rockband alum-geeky, but . . . ) I'm still smarting from the burn of having to turn down buying the new Adrian Belew because the store had priced it at $17.99. I just won't pay that much, so I ordered it off CDUniverse along with the Old 97s DVD for my wife. In the meantime, I'm waiting for CDUniverse to ship my Naked City boxset . . .

I ran to my computer a few days ago and preordered the new Mercury Rev The Secret Migration from cd-wow that was supposed to release in the UK yesterday (not until sometime in May in the US, at least that's what they were saying). Does that count? Only cost £7.99 Inc Free Delivery. That was with a £1 discount coupon. But they haven't told me it shipped yet, although I made another order for the recent Tindersticks Working For The Man (The Island Years) 2-cd collection (selected from the recent UK remasters of their first 5 albums, of which I have the originals of Tindersticks II and Simple Pleasures, both of which are outstandingly excellent) after that and it has shipped. Hmmmm....what's up with that? Tindersticks and Mercury Rev - two of my favorites! Bought a bunch of other stuff but nothing new, except for the recent Fiery Furnaces EP, so guess I got nothing for this thread - never mind.

Just remembered what came out today:

Destroyer w/ Frog Eyes - Notorious Lightning & other works...

Kinda pricey for 6 songs, but it's M-Fin' DESTROYER...

I'll have to pick that up this week once I get paid (if not tonight w/a lingering best buy certificate)...

I picked up on the $7.99 deal on "Wide Awake", but I had Orca Big meetings all day and combine that with a MASSIVE hangover (yes kids I said MASSIVE) i honestly forgot to peep that shit all day (per my usual steady diet of sports talk and mixes) until..............now.

Posting non-music related topics in “Rock/Pop” forum are a carryover from CMJ. When we started this board the other topics were going to go into “Anything Goes” but with the sub text “very little is work safe” it never took off. So basically old habits die-hard and most members (unscientific poll) like general talk mixed with music. I agree that some really good music topics suffer because of this, but fine with the setup. This board will always be more than one page a day.

Bought today:

M83
Low - in case you haven't heard.... sounds nothing like their older stuff. It's acutually rocking. And with Fridmann's production....sweeeet.
Vic Chesnutt - The Salesman & Bernadette (1998 release).
