Needs more Neko.

I've been encouraging my brother and sister-in-law to check this band out since Twin Cinema came out and they finally got around to it. With or without Neko, I think Carl Newman writes great songs, so Neko or no Neko, I expect greatness from their next album.

I was initially impressed with Twin Cinema, but it hasn't held up as well as Electric Version did. I disagree that they need more Neko. It's not as if she's writing any of the songs; literally any female vocalist could do what she does in that band.

i have to agree with spade kitty here. neko hasn't contributed much to this band in the past few years. she's toured with them a few times and i thought carl newman's niece did an excellent substitute job this past spring when they opened for belle & sebastian. also, neko looks pretty rough when she's on tour, so she's not even really eye candy after a few weeks on the road.

I actually agree with Todd. The NP always seemed souless to me and Neko could add some of that if her role was increased.

Almost every song from the first two records buzz around my brain at random, uncontrollable moments. But sitting here, I cannot hum one tune from Twin Cinema. Hmm.

ive really, really tried to like the new pornographers, but its just not happening. and its not for lack of love of neko case, cause shes freakin awesome.

I've never really been able to like either. I do like Newman's solo album and Destroyer though.

I have always liked Neko Case better than NP, she's probably better off all alone.

i like much of their stuff, but some is just either too all over the place or just too much

I need more of Neko Case too (and her music ain't half bad either) but we can't always get what we want.

There is nothing wrong with the New Pornographers.

I enjoyed Twin Cinema, but not because of her. A LOT. I most certainly can hum most of it. Stuck to me quickly, and still gets play.

I also enjoy her Fox Confessor album, dispite its sounding little/nothing like NP's. Long as she keeps recording, I don't care if it's with them or not.

Seen them live 4 times (all times w/ Neko, once w/ the deluxe Bejar-included ensemble) and every time they make me sing along like a damn fool and smile uncontrollably.

The world just seems brighter when their music is playing. Though I will concede that Neko definitely brings a left-field weird presence to the mixture that makes it all so much more special. If they continue at their curent Neko levels, I'm cool with it.

Yup, except that they need to announce their tour dates for here in December now so I can make sure I'm not working that night. Same as Neko for the solo shows she's meant to be doing

Pretty much just an awesome group with great songs. I can see why no one would like them.

They need to change the name of the band to Neko Case and the New Pornographers and her voice needs to soar.

everyone always tells me they have all these sweet power pop hooks but i can't even recall a single NEw Pornos song, they never got stuck in my head. AC Newman's solo was much better in my opinion.
