I'm gonna limit myself to one release per band here I guess.

1. The Rolling Stones - Between The Buttons
2. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
3. Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding
4. The Velvet Underground and Nico
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
6. Otis Redding - Live In Europe
7. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - Absolutely Free
8. The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile
9. The Who - Sell Out
10. The Doors - The Doors

some years like this I think would be better served by having a list of the best singles as well as albums; for instance Motown doesnt get its due and I might even throw in a single off of that second Monkees album. But whatever, its your party.

I put Smokey Robinson and the Miracles on the list... but Motown surely needs more respect, if you're talking 1967...

that you did--I would probably throw some on my list except that I don't really know any motown albums just singles.

I'm assuming a good album to get would be that Smokey?

AMG says 1968, but Wikipedia says 1967. I think I believe Wikipedia in this case since it even lists the month it was released (August). I'll have to look at my CD when I get home, but 1967 seems right to me. Guess that means I'll have to edit my list.

Beyond the huge hit "Tears of a Clown" (the song that caused John Lennon to call Smokey America's greatest poet), two of the best Miracles songs ever, "The Love I Saw in You Was Just a Mirage.." and the terminally obsessed and plaintive... "More Love."

Four Tops is pretty good too... "Standing in the shadows of love", "reach out, I'll be there.." great version of "walk away renee", and the burning "Bernadette" (on of my personal motown favorites).

Just took a break in the midst of a busy couple of weeks. I was planning on coming back to it this week.
