So someone at the wife's workplace had their dachshund bring in a kitten yesterday from "the fields"... they live on a farm, and they aren't willing to take care of it. We took it in. I'm giving it formula from a bottle every couple of hours. Looks to be 4 weeks old or so. I think a friend of ours will take him/her when we get it weened.

Behold...

Man we're suckers. But who could say no to that tiny, tiny face?

I use to be a cat person, now I own a dog. I still love my rather obese cat that is now essentially my mother's. Kittens are cuter, but puppies are more fun.

Grew up with cats, have stretched to like both. Still kinda dig cats more.

If I could get f'in imageshack to wake up, I have another good shot.

ask and I shall receive (finally)...

Meeting the Pitbull:

It's hilarious. She keeps trying to sniff the kitten, her eyes get huge, and then she rolls over like she's gonna nurse it. Once a mama, always a mama.

That one picture, properly circulated, could undo about 20 years of bad press for the Pitbull.

I wish that were true. Everyone that meets her says "THIS is a pit?! I thought they ate babies!!" She's pitiful.

It's my wife you gotta worry about. She ain't above giving a man a sorely needed beatdown on his wedding day.

Cute cat though. I've actually come around and at least like our cat a lot. The rest of the species can still go fuck itself.

Number one: Cutest picture I've seen in a while. Should be in the panda thread.

Number two: You need a manicure, Mr. Squirrgle.

Number three: I love that the kittycat appears to be growling at the big, bad dog.

Number four: I love that I'm in your signature. Poo head.

Number five: I share Phil's sentiments that they're cute when they're babies, but then they turn into cats. I'd rather have a dog. I need an animal around that wants physical contact.

Pretty much how I feel. Of course I'm super allergic to them and that might have colored my feelings.

Red:

1. Yes, she's intimidated by the dogs now, but it fades quickly when they realize the dogs are both harmless AND warm. We took in a stray two years ago, who turned out to be pregnant, and when she had three kittens, they all did the same thing at first. By 8 weeks, they were all doing this:
Image

2. That's Mrs Squirrgle, not me, with the painted nails. She just painted them again right after that. I kept smelling acetone or whatever in bed all night.

3. If cats are raised with a lot of human contact from the get-go, they're extremely social. They will track your ass down and demand lap time.

My mutt dog would eat that lil'thing. I know some day one smart ass cat is gonna make my dog blitz into the street and get him under some fast moving wheels.

That's a very, very intelligent decision. People ignore that aspect a lot, and it's the animals (dogs) that suffer for it.

This one hasn't been here 24 hours yet, and is already progressing nicely. If I get too far away, she starts meowing for me to come get her. Seems to be enjoying watching my fingers type. For being this tiny size, she's fiesty, getting mobile, showing good energy, good coordination. Tiny terror, yet very affectionate (curls up under my chin on the couch, purrs). I think she's gonna do fine, and I'm taking pictures to document this phase for whoever winds up with her, because I wish I had similar pictures of The Fatness from the hippy chick that the Mrs got her from.

Alright, she's hungry. Gotta warm up some formula.

I love my pups, but I am a sucker for a baby animal of any kind... even cats. btw, don't know what it means, but I had a dream the other night that I adopted a kitten and named him Serge.

Cap'n, your pit is ADORABLE.
