I just saw that the DJIA has raced past 12,000. What stocks have you bought and how have they performed? I own Apple and Whole Foods. Very pleased w/ their performance over the last several years. My Fidelity retirement fund that is heavily weighted with China/Hong Kong shares has done spectacularly since I started it in '97 during the Asian financial crisis. Or do you guys spend all your money on music and clothes?

Any extra $ we've had has been "invested" in our house, usually, over the last 2 houses. Returns have been good, too. I'm sitting in my stock market.

But I look forward to finding companies I like and investing, once I have an income again.

i have a roth with about 30 different stocks. i'm going to slowly move the $ into mutual funds, my first bought today BPTRX. i try to balance between the nasdaq and the dow with some cheaper, future prospects in the mix like STEM, SIRI & TIVO.

I'm a little afraid to play the stock market, personally. Not everyone makes money that way.

I really need to invest at least a quarter of what I have right now, but I guess I've been waiting for a break in my work schedule to really take the time to look into what I should do. I may do mutual funds, but most likely it will be CDs (not the music kind) and stuff like that. No stocks.

I went to an American Funds shareholders dinner recently and was surprised to be the youngest person there by at least 15 years and mostly closer to 25 or 30...

I mostly spend all of my money on music and clothes.

My grandpa left me a bunch of Waste Management stock, but I don't know how it's doing. That's my rainy day/get out of jail free money. Might spend it on wedding #2.

i have all sorts of stuff in my retirement plan, but i have been to lazy to really research or learn about what i have. i tend to trust my guys at AG Edwards, and im happy as long as my balence is always going up which it has been over the last 6 years.

when i was real young, a few relatives got me Xerox and Toys r us stock, and while neither are money makers, i hold onto them .

I'm in three mutual funds with Fidelity: Contrafund, Janus Aspen Growth, and the Top 500 one. Other than that down period last year, they've averaged about a 10-15% return.

I think I own a few shares in AMVESCAP stock from sharesave back in 1998. Other than that, I am about to liquidate my 401(k) and MPP with my previous employer and roll it over into an IRA.

Yeah, we don't want people freeriding on Dalen's vast financial experience.

Damn, I was really hoping to finagle fiduciary information from the legion of bankers/brokers that peruse Obner when they are not making ground-breaking aquisitions on Wall Street. And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for these pesky, meddling kids.

My father still holds desperately onto the crappy RR Donnelly & Sons stock he's owned since the 80's (that is the shit company he works for) even though he could be wealthy if he'd taken my advice in the early nineties to get on the Whole Foods bandwagon when they had gone public. Playing it safe, especially when you are young, is just plain stupid.

Won't be my first. Hopefully, it won't be my last. I've been told I'm the best mindfuck in town, and this was from a girl who has "been around" if you know what I mean.

i got a little bit of money from my grandmother's estate this summer, which my parents promptly put into mutual funds for me. eventually (read: when i actually start making real money) i'll probably sit down with my folks' broker and discuss my future. scary.
