What is it like? Any good? Worth the price?

I just got a spam email for a "program" where they send you coffee every six weeks:

Quote:
How the Program Works

You will be sent four 1/2 lb. packages of the type(s) you have indicated above with the understanding that you will continue to receive additional shipments of Gevalia coffee (four 1/2 lb. packages) approximately every six weeks, plus you may receive a special annual shipment.

Prices of coffees and teas vary, ranging from $5.55 - $7.45 per package, plus shipping and handling. Prices are subject to change.

This arrangement may be canceled at any time after receiving our introductory shipment without obligation to accept further shipments. You may change the quantities and types of coffee you receive at any time, as well as the frequency of your shipments. The special gift is yours to keep regardless of your decision.

The special gift is a coffee maker and two mugs. FWIW, I like strong coffee.

Is this worth it?

I see their advertisement all the time in the Sunday newspaper coupons. Never tried it, though.

Even if it's deefuckinglicious, if you respond to a spam email with dollars I will find and kill you. And I like you. But it's still the right thing to do.

People who buy shit as a result of unsolicited ads (especially through email) make the baby jesus cry.

Actually, I've decided to buy some through Just Coffee. A co-worker swears by it, plus it's organic.

Best coffee I've ever had was from Anodyne, in Milwaukee. The guy's a big Uncle Tupelo fan. Shit is the dank.

That's right. It's probably made from palladium or something.

Yeah, the wife's gonna have Anodyne in her store when it opens in a few months... show this neighborhood what good coffee tastes like.

And I'm gonna openly steal a bag a week for the house.

Havn't been since the cafe changed name, from Brewed Awakening to Anodyne Coffee Roasters, so I cannot say for the quality of the beans, but glad you're repping Milwaukee. Especially since you live in Madison, e.g. out-state. Ballsy, on your part; don't say "Anodyne" too loudly, whatever you do, though.

Upscale, minimalist urban convenience market, some non-food retail. Influenced by parts of Whole Foods, Bodum, Garden Of Eden, Dean & Deluca. Everything modern, slick, fast, as much do-it-yer-damn-self as possible, for people in a hurry. No parking, just a bike rack. Some prepared food to go, some groceries, monthly rotating non-food retail themes.

It's complicated. I'm glad it's her and not me running the show, as I have nowhere near the patience.

Sounds pretty cool. Like a place pretentious assholes like me would secretly love, yet constantly deride because of the other pretentious asshole customers.

No smut. And madison isn't big enough to have a serious A-hole contingent yet. We do have urbanite hipsters, as well as condo dwellers between here and downtown, 4 blocks away. We're gambling her 401k and 3 of my fingers that they'll be enough to support the business.

Had DAT meeting w/ banker & underwriter, re: "how much money yall gonna make in tha spring when yall get a job?"

Seconded. We used to have a store (Magnolia) like that at the bottom of our street but it closed recently. So sad. If you ever got sick in the winter it was like: "aiight. it's organic grapefruits and high-end chocolat for me...".

My only advice based on the store near us: diversify. This place only sold expensive stuff. They might have stuck around longer if they had had some "staple" goods too.

Once you guys hit chain status you should consider branching out to Canada.
