I came home today with my lady after work, and the front door to our apt. opened a little to easy..As I walked in, I noticed that our back door was kicked in..Quickly called 911 and then proceed to go through the house with a big ass knife, but the fuckers were long gone. The bastards took 2 laptops, an MP3 player, mad change(about $300.00 worth) and the little lady's jewelery box and all her shit, a digital camera, and my extra backpack to carry the shit in..Cops came and did the finger prints thing, landlord came and reconstructed the back door the best he could, but now I can't stop shaking..I want to kill a mother fucker. To top it all off, they stepped in dog shit on the way in and tracked it through my house. Things of note they didn't take were my xbox360, and a couple dvd players. Man I need a drink.

fuck... that is brutal. i am really sorry to hear about that. you may want to spend the night at a friend's house if you're really shaken up. i've fortunately never had it happen, but a friend or two have been victims.

$300 in change? wow. i thought my plastic jar of maybe $60-70 was impressive.

Haq I see that you have and I know you feel my pain. I think it was a crakhead trying to get some quick loot. Looks like they did a quick hit and run and took what they could quickly escape with that had some value. I'm going to the pawn shop a few blocks away tomorrow to see if anyone tried to sell my shit and also to put the word out. I'm that dude that always pays extra for a warranty with his shit, even if I may never need it. So luckily for me, we had renter's insurance.

Z, thanks..I'm not shaken up to the point of not wanting to stay here, I just want to kill a mother fucker that's all. I feel violated.

Dude, that's awful. Sorry.

When I was little the house we lived in in Florida was robbed twice. Which is the reason my mother does not have her engagement ring or wedding band. Among other things, of course.

I remember your bike episode, I know you know the feeling. I want to get high or take a few shots to calm down, but I don't think either would help right now. I'm just seeing red and want to kill.

yeah it sucks. good thing i had renters insurance. still, i'm super paranoid with anything we have in the garage, but we changed locks and installed a door stop on the outside door. so, they have to wrench open the main garage door if they really want in. and that's where i'll be w/ a knife.

Bloor / Busty's old place in Atlanta (the one with roosters) used to get broken into, as did peoples' cars in the driveway. This is also the place with the flag hanging out front with the outline of a pistol, and "we don't call 911."

Damn, Obs...I am so sorry to hear that. At least, you and your lady are safe and didn't interrupt what could have potentially been armed burglars.

Is renter's insurance expensive? I've never been robbed but I think I've just been really fortunate so far.

Ob's, real sorry to hear about that man. Hopefully you can locate some of your gear at the local pawn shop, or better yet, the police can score it back.

no they won't.

Sorry to hear about this, bro. As the Cap'n mentioned, our house in Atlanta got burglarized a couple times and man that is just the worst fucking feeling to come home and find the door kicked in...I'm pissed off right now just thinking about it.

Not necessarily. When my apartment was broken into, the cops found my CDs and the cooler that the asshole put the CDs in. They also gave me their business cards and said that if I found any of my jewelry in pawn shops, to give them a call and that they'd get it back for me. And these were Chicago cops. Sometimes if you're nice to them, they'll be cool back. sometimes...

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I don't think anything will be recovered, I just want them to get the bastards. They dusted and got alot of prints, I just hope they are not all ours. I feel bad for my girl, most of the jewelery wasn't expensive, but it ment alot to her and it seems like more of her shit is missing overall. We pay about 255/yr for 30,000 in coverage on our renters insurance policy.

my car was stolen while i was delivering something and left it running for literally two minutes; i felt completely violated, the worst feeling ever. i was seriously pissed off at the people who saw the guy get in the car, stall it a couple times (couldn't drive a stick), then peel away. i was especially pissed at the cop who berated me for not having my ID (everything was in the car) and took off without offering me a ride anywhere.

Exactly. Argh. That's so sad. such a bad feeling. I'm so sorry for you guys. It's something I don't even want to think about.

Did you have insurrance?

(I don't---stupid, I know---and really need to get some)

Take care

Man, that's good. I tried to get a quote back when I lived in Montreal: most lpaces wouldn't even insure me (because I where I lived) and those that would told me $600 a year min.

But it's a seriously good idea.

Wow, Obg. Sorry to hear about that. I'm always in fear of that happening in the neighborhood I live in. Sometimes I'm super anal about stuff though, like cds when I leave my truck and go into a store. Like, I'll put the case under the seat or something, because I think people would break a window to get it. My wife is terrible about things like that though. She'll leave her cd book or her digi camera on the backseat and it freaks me out.
