If the Democrats took control of Congress, what part of their agenda would concern you the most?
Cutting and running in the War on Terror
Raising your family's taxes
Impeachment and investigations
All of the above

Doubt if fear mongering will work for Repubs this time. Just how many times can they dip into the same well? Voters are smarter this time around- I think.

So the party full of ideas pulled a page directly from LBJ's playbook.

I also like how the ad wizards at RNC didn't actually tell you to vote for Republicans in the ad.

Guess they assume Voters are smart enough to figure that out but not smart enough to notice the fear mongering theme part 3.

The sadder comment here is that EVERYONE IN AMERICA knows that its the Dems that will these people put the burkhas on your mom and sister at your funeral after they set off the dirty bomb.

And, KPH -- the answer down here is taxes, which I think will end up costing the Dems a few winnable seats. DOLTS>

Is there an implied guarantee in GOP doctrine that if Repubs are in charge Taxes will never be raised, ever?

Yes. Didnt you get your check from George Bush, to boot?

Cutting taxes is a two pronged strategy of the Republican playbook that goes something like this:

Economically: cutting taxes encourages people to spend more therefore growing the economy and encouraging new investment. Eventually this will spawn so much growth that the wealth will "trickle down" to even the lowest among us. This is called supply side economics. It doesnt work (especially if you keep increasing feaderal spending beyond what you are taking in even with the "increased economic growth", but don't tell them that.

Politically:Is there really anything better to run on than tax cuts? Or anything worse that you can say about your opponents than that they will raise taxes?

Seriously, you can fuck dogs on national TV as long as you keep taxes low.

Wise indeed.
But the ad is primarily aimed at the Righteous Evangelicals who believe that GOD is spelt GOP.

War on terror...could any other party fuck thing up worse than has already been done by the Republicans?

Taxes...any raise would be negligible unless you're making more than about 90% of the country. Those are the guys who are saving under the Republicans. That couple huindred bucks every four years ain't cose to enough of a bribe for me.

Investigations...I have no idea why anyone would have a problem with weeding out the unethical and illegal crap that's going on.

I'm thinking there's quite a few Repubs this time around who are thinking. "well it would have been preferable to wage an EFFECTIVE war on terror."

I mean if you gotta have one and all.

I was trying to find a clip of the "Daisy" LBJ ad, but failed.

Anyway, as Elvis Fu said this has been done before.

Well, either you and Elvis Fu, or Jeff Greenfield are prescient political commentators. Not sure which.

How 'bout that video-game-CGI-lookin' "Osama" at the beginning of that thing?

At least the old LBJ ad wasn't so offensively balls-out UGLY.

Now is not the time for subtlety, Bubba. The Hog is in the Tunnel.

THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO RAISE YOUR TAXES (to pay for the fact that the republicans have been spending like someone on a creative metaphor for spending money like crazy)

Subltety is one thing. Making a campaign ad that looks like a cut-scene from a low-budget Playstation game is another.
