Just saw a trailer for this. While I was monumentally disappointed with Insomnia and only slightly less impressed with Batman Begins, I felt the latter was more poor story than direction.

I really want this to be good and Im really looking forward to seeing it. BUT, when do we write young Nolan off as a two-shot wonder? Memento and Following are two of my favorite movies of the last twenty years, but if this one is mediocre...well, I just dont know.

Chris Nolan's The Prestige

The previews look interesting, but it seems to represent only a superficial resemblance to the book (i.e., there's two magicians... that's it).

Insomnia was alright, I wish they hadn't cast Robin Williams in it though. Batman Begins was awesome. I wouldn't write a director off after 4 films , none of which were flat out terrible.

The Prestige looks interesting.

I had high hopes for this, but it was a snorefest for 90% of the movie. Good twists at the end, but I was dissapointed.

I thought it was good. It's a little long. Not exactly boring, but it kind of plods along and you definitely realize you've been in the theatre for a while. There are definitely a lot of twists, too. I had figured out what Christian Bale's character was doing well before the end and was all proud of myself, but I still found the end surprising and pretty suspenseful. Plus, you get Scarlet in some nice magician's assistant outfits. Definitely worth seeing.

In the previews, both Jackman and Bale look like Tim Daly. I thought it was Tim Daly vs Tim Daly in a Stephen King-goes-Brit film.

I'm not sure if I got the end of this and I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen it. But yeah, I liked it a lot.

slate magazine has a "spoiler special" podcast about this movie that i was listening to this morning, and all the discussion about the movie really makes me want to see it again. the more i think about it the more interested i am in some of the themes that didn't resonate with me the first time through.

Finally saw this. Having read the novel, I knew the secrets, but I still thought it was really well done. While the secrets are pretty much the same, the actual plot of the film is very different from the novel.

I liked it. It kept me guessing until the end.

...I should have guessed the plot twist, but I didn't.

I enjoyed this, a lot. Just saw it last week. Wife couldn't stay awake through it, but I thought it was really entertaining.

Despite nailing a portion of the plot twist about 3/4 of the way through the movie I still found it to be a great film....sometimes guessing a twist will ruin a movie...in this case you can still enjoy great film-making......

Christopher Nolan(the director) is slowly building a great catalog of films.

That's what happened in the Kingfish household as well. Good flick.
