Maybe they like sex-noises...?

Anyway, undergrad or master's?

You're an animal.

Undergrad. I'm going to get my nursing license and then make a hospital pay for my bachelor's degree.

It's really kind of dumb that I'm not moving back home. My parents do not give a shit. As long as I don't interrupt their football watching, they won't even bother me.

I thought Towne Club would bring back some memories for the UGA kids.

22... within the next two weeks hopefully. The place is great, small duplex but everyone that lives on the street is cool and we have bonfires and massive parties. I'm moving in with a girl I don't know and she's paying all of the bills. I just pay for my share of the rent.

I was 22 too when I moved out.

Circumstances: I was in my undergrad up until then and lived near school so it made sense to stay (even though I was ready to go). Coincidently, my Mom sold our house the year I graduated so that pretty much sealed the deal.

Had a roomie for one year, then lived alone after that until I moved in with Senor Six.

Voluntarily? When I was just shy of 22, to go live with my bf at time(who turned out to be asshole of the century) then back with mom again after bad experience with guy above for almost two years, which resulted in his ass being thrown in jail(long and depressing story).

So- moved out at 21, moved back at 23, moved out at 25, moved back in for three months at 26 until my wedding.

Then when I was separated from my ex husband I lived with my mom again for about three-four weeks.

Last and final time.

18 -- moved to college. My dad was supposed to help me, but was out of town that weekend, so I put everything in the back of the car and bounced.

I lived at my grandmother's house for about 6 months, but have never even had the option of moving back in with either of my parents...that's what Redlands was for ;)

How could all you people afford to live on your own at 18 and 20? I work forty hours a week and I don't think if I can afford to live on my own right now.

Well, maybe I could. But I'd have to cut back a lot on cd's/dvd's/comics/etc. so it's almost not worth it.

It's all in what you get used to. Same as having kids at 18 or something. Seems impossible to me, but my parents did it and didn't die. People adjust to their budget.

Or, they sell drugs. Something tells me that's how most of the GARgoyles pulled off the early-onset independence.

Dude, they would've been the worst dealers ever. .... I mean EVER. Like trying to get Sally Struthers to sell girlscout cookies or something.

I managed to afford living on my own at 21 by living on cheap beer, and eating fast food once a day. I was skinny as fuck, and I remember people at the time saying my skin looked "green."

Maybe you should just stay with your parents until you're comfortable moving out.

I "moved out" but in many ways was supported by my folks financially. They paid for my college and am so unbelievabl grateful for that because just about all of my friends have some MAJOR school loans to pay off. I don't make a lot right now but it is so stressless to not have a single cent of debt.

Most of the summers I worked when I was 17-21 I worked about 80 hours a week for 3 months. I'd make near 10 grand in those three months at two jobs. That helped a lot.

it's surprising to me that so many of you lived at home for so long. i hardly knew anyone who didn't move out at 18.

as for me, i left at 18 for the college dorm, moved into my first apartment the summer after my freshman year, lived in apartments until i moved back home at 23 for four months after getting kicked out of school. haven't been back since.

the question was when people moved out, not when they were financially independent. i may have moved out at 18, but it was some years later until i wasn't relying on my parents for anything.

So your parents paid for you to live on your own?

Mine can't even afford to pay for if I go to university.

parents tossed me for taking an unapproved major. Worked at two music stores teaching violin, worked in a steel mill, participated in experiments for cash, played in bands, played recording sessions... i hustled my ass all over town for cash.
