About a year ago there were two women sitting in front of me who were talking all throughout the previews. Which was annoying, but I figured they'd stop once the movie cued up. Well they were still goin' at it when the opening credits started, so I just leaned forward and said "The movie's starting now, ladies, time to be quiet." And they didn't say another word.

Sure, it was only two women, but I have no problem confronting people who are being rude.

you see, i need to start doing this. and what i mean by that is being nice about it. i'm more like "shut up" or "why the fuck did you bring a crying one-year old to see [gangster film]?"

I saw something recently where an older couple behind me talked through the entire movie. Didn't even whisper. Can't remember the movie, though.

I went to a movie at the Music Box a few years back and Studs Terkel sat next to me.
Pretty cool.

But then the old fart talked throught the WHOLE GODDAMN MOVIE!!!
"Oh, I remember that guy. He was a sonuvabitch!"

And his wife was hushing him for the whole time, too. Which was almost as annoying:
"Studs... quiet! SHHHH!!!"

Still, it was Studs and I love that guy.

I would have just moved. I'm not the confrontational type, unless I'm really drunk of course.

I'm almost terrified of pissing people off so I mind my P's and Q's when I'm in public. I'm polite as hell in those types of situations.

Of course it doesn't help that I have a mother who rarely thinks before speaking no matter WHERE she is. Her and I went to see Devil wears Prada day before I had the baby and she chattered through half the movie, about the movie. I had to tell her to shut the hell up. I think she's the ONLY person I'll talk to like that if need be.

She drives me flippin nuts, I think that's why I work so hard at being polite and quiet in restaurants, theatres etc.

As for the kid at the Brewers game, I know it was annoying, but he is 8 yrs old and they have short attention spans and when the dad said "Try", he meant he'd keep telling him to stop but the kid may do it again later because he's a kid and hyper. I have more tolerance for kids then I do adults who know better.

This was obviously a simple case of a mutual J/O situation. Where's your manners, Red?

I'm also tolerant of kids, but to a certain extent. He wasn't hyper, he just kept kicking my chair. I was nanny to an eight year old with ADHD who was more polite and considerate (even when his moods caused him to be off the wall with emotions) than this little monster. I could understand him moving around a lot and goofing around, being excited to be at a baseball game, but he really didn't pay attention to anything. Moody little shit. He'll be in a fraternity date-raping coeds in 10 years, I guarantee.*

*just being dramatic. he was a shithead, though.

3. show it to him then laugh.

Actually I saw that movie Crash here in Hawaii a few months ago and this black dude was carrying on a loud conversation on his cell phone. People kept shushing him and telling him to shut up up but he continued, then got mad and started yelling at the entire audience. It was pretty crazy.
