Hey all,

In light of the clevercactus demise, I'm willing to research the possibility of setting up a DirectConnect hub for us. I use DC++ for UberNet and have become quite the fan. Looks like there are Mac and Unix clients as well, so everyone can play. I will keep you posted on our progress, but as I get started I'd like a group of 5-10 people who are willing to bash this thing out with me.

Requirements:
- A substantial digital music library
- Staying online (though not necessarily at your machine) for long periods of time.. which usually means broadband or faster
- Quick response time while at your machine
- Patience
- Flexibility

Desirables:
- A variety of DC++ experience, especially in active mode
- A variety of platforms (Mac attack!!!!)
- Machines w/ Dynamic name (your-name.domain.com, for example)
- An interest in my music collection ;)

If you're interested, email me (colin dot mcginnis at btopenworld dot com) with your credentials. Assuming enough interest, I will set the deadline for Tuesday January 25, 1 p.m. EST.

Got it, FT. Thanks!

NS: just your platform (which you've done) and DC++ experience if any. I will be using email to contact people for this, so it's nice to confirm the addresses (even if I should already have them).

That's the plan... at least through the testing phase. Not sure if I'm gonna have enough upload capacity; that's why I wanted to keep it small initally to see how it panned out.

hmm.

well, i'm all for it, as i think DC++ is the best, most reliable, and *safest* p2p app available, though the passive/active shit is a hindrance.

i'm rarely on though, as i'm often at work or doing band stuff.

i'll contact you in a bit for the addy, but i won't be on to test it until this eve.

KPH

Hub won't be up until mid-week at the earliest. Thanks for being open to help, Kev!

Something we may be able to work on. Would love to have you onboard for this.

Thanks for the emails so far. Here's a BUMP!

Isn't using something with a hub kind of dangerous for the hub-er, legally that is? I should know this, but I don't.

Sorry, man, just caught this. Email me at the address on the first post. We may be able to sort it.

Those who have emailed or IMed me about this should check their inboxes. That is all.

Ok, so I'm online right now. The only problem is I tried download an album from Sketch and it only allowed me to grab the small support files (log, m3u, etc) and when it came to the mp3s it said "no slot available".

So, I'm hoping someone else can log in so I can see what the deal is.

I'm able to connect to the hub in active mode, but I can't get anyone's filelists. I can in passive mode, but we don't want that.

Ok, filelists works. I don't know if it was something I did or not.

It looks like you were able to get mine. And I can download mp3s from you. So far, so good.

smafty: You're still in my upload queue, but I'm overloaded on UberNet right now. Using the same client for both, which is swell. I tried granting you an extra slot but to no avail. My bandwidth is maxed out right now. I should be a bit more accessible shortly.
