they were on mtv2's subterranean the other week. the video for "well thought out twinkles" is really cool.

I recently saw them twice when they swung through New York. They were really, really good and this album continues to age very well with me. Will likely make my top 10.

great review man! hopefully they'll swing south at some point. gotta catch them soon.

have a feeling they'll be at Coachella next year.

good call. i'm also calling: the knife (silent shout didn't grab me at first but goddamn deep cuts is SO good), cold war kids, little ones, lcd soundsystem (again, but on an outside stage), css.

Silversun tore the fucking Empty Bottle up on Friday night! They sounded so much better than when I caught them in late August. Great band.

The guitar introduction in Checkered Floor is pretty much identical to that of Fight Song by The Appleseed Cast. I'm going to lump this band in with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead... love the guitars, not too keen on the vocals.

That's a great video, but damn am I confused now... the singer is a DUDE?!? I've had the album on repeat for weeks and was totally convinced it was a girl. Kind of disappointing...

This band reminds me of GISH-era smashing pumpkins.

Bump. Finally giving the Pikul EP a listen and it not exactly the movie i thought I was buying a ticket to. I guess I'm kind of pleasently surprised that it's not just crappy demo versions of songs that made it (or didn't make it) to the album.

The production qual is actually higher IMO, though it may be easier with the more toned-down acoustic guitar feel, which is a second surprise. the Pumpkins influence is a lot less noticeable on this one. I wonder if the producer for the full-length insisted on a more Pumpkins-heavy vibe?
