Have decided to send me a brand new computer!!

I bought a G3 iBook in November of 02, and the screen has intermittently stopped working...about every 6 months. The first time I was pissed and the second and third times I mentioned something about getting a new computer, but was given the brush off. I guess this time I finally got the right guy on the phone, because he was like "This absurd, we need to get you a new machine." And its a G4, not refurbished, but out-the-box-new!
So, yeah, they said like 7-10 business days, but most the time its faster than that. Color me a satisfied customer. MIKE JONES!!

That's pretty amazing...
Congrats, Senator. My G4 has done me well...

You must haver gone all "I'm 6 foot a million and will kick yer ass!" on them.

That's pretty cool, though.

I calmly explained to them I was sick of the bullshit and it was time for them to make good on their products. I've been using macs since I was like 9, and the amount of money my family collectively has spent on their product is staggering. All that aside, when you have to send your computer away for 4-5 days for repair every 6 months, its pretty absurd, and they saw it my way.

NIce. I'd love to have one of these in my living room hooked up to my entertainment center.

if i didnt already have an emac that would have been the computer i would have bought. i might (and thats a big might) have considered buying a pc if the new version of windows was coming out sometime this century. my psychic powers tell me that it will be pushed back yet again...... the only way im buying a regular pc again would be to run linux on it (which ive been considering, actually).

Ask Benny what he thinks of his, E. I think the only way for me to move to PC would be if Apple went out of business completely.

the only thing that has kept me from buying a mac was the high price of the macs, around $2K or something, right? the mini mac is $500.

so here's what i don't understand: you say that you bought this computer and it's never really worked right, and they they dicked you around but eventually they've decided to replace it, and yet you're the one telling people that they won't be sorry ir they switch to a mac. i don't see why i'd want this. does the screen abort on your face in new and interesting ways each time? is it like a ride on space mountain?

Well, I mean they did finally make things right, and I have a feeling that if I pressed the issue earlier, it coulda been cleared up sooner. You gotta figure I was w/o it's use for maybe 2 weeks total in the times I had to send it in, and now I get an upgrade for free. Not a bad deal, all in all. And, I don't have to deal with Windows and all the other S grade programs and all that shit.

in all honesty, what programs have you used on a mac versus on a windows machine and had the experience be noticably different?

OK, A) I'm just more used to the MAC. B) I don't really have to deal with all the viruses and ish like that. The Mac looks better, is smaller/lighter/faster than most laptops and I don't have to boot it up everytime I turn it on or of (i.e. wait for Windows to open) Also, MIKE JONES!!

i might be totally wrong, but aren't the majority of viruses designed to attack Windows rather than the Mac OS? I've rarely heard any problems w/ my friends' macs as compared to occassional "blue screen of death" stories from pc users (aside from all the virus complaints).

hey, that's all totally legit. i was just curious. the mac interface is slick as shit and the resource management is admirable. i like'em. and yeah, 99.9 percent of viruses are targeted at windows because everyone realistically runs it and viruses are written by dorks with a grudge.

Yeah, I mean I guess if I was raised on Windows machines and always used them, I would probably not "get" the furor of Macs right now. Plus, innovations like the iPod and iChat (the mac version of AIM) and little things like that are cool.

Plus, I look way cool when I put on my Buddy Holly glasses, ironic t shirt and blazers and pull out my Mac when I'm at Starbucks ;)

you'll get so much tail you'll have to beat it off like mike tyson. i "get" the furor about macs, they seem like people can treat them like the totally sweet appliances that computers probably should be. they just aren't realistic in my life right now. i actually spent a long time today trying to convince cotton to buy a minimac, although that might have been more my joy about him wallowing in debt than anything else.
