I did I miss a discussion of this on Obner? I've liked this band for a while, and last year's King Heron Blues was one of my favorites of the year.

But I think they've surpassed themselves with this... mature, fully formed. I guess it's nu-folk, but increasingly they are hard to categorize. On a number or two they sound what you wish Wilco sounded like these days. Maybe best of the year for me.

If I like this so much, what else would I like (other parameters: don't much like Devandra, do like Six Organs).

i just obtained this a couple days ago actually. it's my first taste of califone, and i really dig it. i had the same thoughts as you in that it reminded me a bit of wilco's experimental side as of late.

Yep. And I just bought Roots and Crowns yesterday, so it hasn't quite stuck yet. I'm confident it will.

i think this is in my top 10 for the year and i agree that they've totally surpassed themselves with this one.
