You know... going to clubs, getting drunk, hooking up...
you got responsibilities, but are accountable only to yourself.
You have plans and goals, but plenty of time to achieve them...
That new graduate smell...

Off the top of my head:
"Liar's Club" - Webb Brothers
"The Way We Get By" - Spoon

EDIT: Might make a good mix theme, if someone can compile them all.

"Single Girl" by Lush. Or really, I'm thinking there are a lot of songs by Lush and also Ivy that are about single life and/or being sour about single life. See also Dubstar and PJ Harvey. Women do a lot of singing about that kind of stuff.

His kids hopped on pop one too many times, the wife found out and now poptodd is living in one of those apartments complexes for newly divorced men. Incidently the complex manager is fielding tons of phone calls about awfulmusic and mumblings of "shrimpboat" from apt. 27 B.

Naw.
I just heard "The Way We Get By" on the radio the other day and really heard the lyrics for the first time. They reminded me of that Webb Brothers song and that gave me the idea for this thread/mix (that I'll never be able to make).

how about-

"gyroscope" or "spider in the snow" - dismemberment plan
"fistfull of love" - royal fingerbowl (about that favorite passtime of singledom)
"the long wait" - styrofoam
"else" - built to spill
"the city if here for you to use" - futureheads
"dry your eyes" - the streets

Maybe...

you can't [/thread] in your own post, just like you can't say something and then add "zing." you need to let other people do this.
