Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can recommend some new music to me. I'm specifically looking for something along the lines of Feist, Brisa Roche, My Brightest Diamond.. perhaps even something similar to french pop..but in english?

StereoLab, sometimes french sometimes not

a little french is not a bad thing now and then

Also, Coralie Clement is everything you are looking for except for the french part

Malajube - Trompe-L'Oeil

French-language indie pop from Canada.
Timis turned me on to it, and I like it. Good stuff.

get the new charlotte gainsbourg album, 5:55. it's amazing. air, neil hannon, and jarvis cocker are co-writers and her accented english is adorable.

i'm serious. get it. no one likes the kind of music you're talking about more than my wife (ask anyone here) and this is her new favorite record.

also, secondarily:
hearty second on keren ann, nolita is a great album. so is la biographie de luka philipsen
broadcast - work and non-work ep
phoenix - united

I don't know the ones you mentioned either but I think I know what type of music they are like. Have you ever heard Dubstar?

french pop in english= hands down, phoenix. start with united.

and yes, the charlotte gainsbourg album is a tasty treat as well.

jb from air has a new solo project "darkel" and there's a few good tracks on the new release: "my own sun" (which you can find a track on a tune day), "at the end of the sky," "tv destroy," "be my friend," and "bathroom spirit."

even though this isn't french pop, swissair is from sweden (i've been on the swedish tip lately) and it's "swedish pop."
