I did a search and didn't find any thread on the movie.

What was the general opinion of it? I saw it once a while back and remember it as being much more violent than I thought it was going to be. Is it worth a second viewing?

I thought it was pretty lame and would go so far to say that the version with Dolph Lundgren was better.

Yeah they just fucked up a lot of shit in it. They have a lot of characters from Ennis run on the book but they're all just watered down versions of them.

It's terrible. It's like a made-for-TV movie.

I thought it was okay but I haven't read the comic in fifteen years.

I pretty much like all the recent Marvel movies, including Fantastic Four, though. So my opinion isn't worth much.

I am sorta the same with the Marvel movies. I never got into comics and the like and so when I go see the movie I am not caught up in how it compares to the original comic. If it looks like a cheesy superhero movie I will see it and not really expect much except some cool CGA and special effects.

I just can't remember much from The Punisher. I think, as I said before, I was surprised by the scene when he is with his family. I remeber thinking that that was a pretty cool few scenes but I remember very little else.

I thought the guy was an okay Punisher, very much a tough version of Hugh Jackman, but the enemies were weak, John Travolta is gay, and the side characters were forgetable. It's a revenge movie without much else going for it.

Well, it's worth renting. That's about all I can say.

The good = The Punisher punishing, he was quite good at that.

The bad = Misc. comic inaccuracies, ones that could've been avoided. I understand that in the X-men movies you have to tweak things to make the movie a regular length and go smoothly (for example, Jean and Storm finding Nightcrawler in a church in NE USA instead of Xavier going to get him from Germany), but in the Punisher, why the big family reunion? Why not have his wife and kid get shot in the park while having a simple picnic, like in the comic? It seems like an easy scene to shoot. Why have the Punisher in an apartment instead a cool armory/warehouse/hideout? So we could get comic relief from dorky neighbors?

And most of all, why does the Punisher have a drinking problem? That one really irked me.

Kevin Nash as a big Russian mercenary!

Not as funny as Randy Savage as a pro wrestler getting beaten up by Spider-Man.

Not a stupid as Triple H as a vampire trying to kill Blade.

But still good.

I predict John Cena as a member of the Yancy Street Gang in Fantastic Four 2.

In the comic, the Kevin Nash character had breast implants at one point. I think the movie would've been so much better if it kept that little tidbit.

Ironically, it's on FX right now.

No need to rent.

However, the newer Thomas Jane one is a lot funnier in a bad-movie kind of way...

Plus, they ruin some of my fav plots from the comics (aka "The Russian", etc.)...

There's also an explosion scene in the movie that is so damned cheesy/funny that it gives the tearing-off-of-shirt-for-no-reason battle in Timecop 2 a run for it's money...

After the myriad of Spider-Man releases, I've refrained from buying any Marvel comic dvd's until a box set is available.

Haven't bought the Blade box set yet but I've been meaning to. Surprised there isn't an X-Men one yet.
