It's mighty purty-tender-sweety-poopie. But I like it.

Heh. He covers Ratt's "Round And Round," by the way.

"The Ballad Of Daykitty" isn't going to win any awards for hardness. Nope.

Yeah, probably.

On first listen, it seems like his voice is in great form and the song structure is very good. The lyrics are so on-yer-sleeve and the production so new-folk shiny that a lot of people won't like it.

I like it right now. Maybe the songs will be less substantial on repeated listen. Certainly pretty songs, though.

The problem definitely wasn't polish when I saw him live. He just played his guitar and fooled around with some little electronic doodad that didn't add anything at all to the songs, and the songs sounded totally undistinguishable and I think every one contained the same really cliched snap-in lyric, but right now I can't remember what it was. Something with "nice," maybe.

I was so finished with Lou Barlow in 1996. Kind of like how finished I was with John Darnielle around the same time. Too many cutesy acousticy songs, and way too deep a catalog. I think people who put out 2+ records are year of generally acoustic stuff are asking to overwhelm and bore their fans to tears.

it's not the greatest thing he's done, but better than the last sebadoh album.

Heard it in Easy Street records Saturday morning at breakfast (in their cafe) and hated almost every note. The Round and Round cover was particularly bad.

i still like most, if not all of sebadoh's catalog. even "the sebadoh," which i think has some gems on the first half.

As The Arcade Fire's opener, he was so awful that I actually left and went home. It was horrendous. That is all.

"Caterpillar Girl" is destined for Triple A radio hit status, I bet.

Stream this earlier today (http://music.guide.real.com/lounge). It was decent. Not awful, not great.

Done with Darnielle? Done with Darnielle?

I don't even know you anymore.

That's like a Priest saying that, since there were so many prophets, he's "kinda over" John the Baptist.

That's like GW saying that, since there are so many skyscrapers in the United States, he's "kinda over" the twin towers.
