ok i need some help here mainly b/c i am unsure what to do. although the answer might seem obvious.

this is the watch that i want (BULOVA MARINE STAR 96D16)
Image

it retails for 499. all the stores around me sell it for 379 plus tax

i can get it from amazon for 250

i am leaning towards buying it from amazon. any reason why i shouldn't? also i can take the watch to any of the local places and for 10 bucks they will "fit" the watch for me (remove links).....

Ditto. And somebody local will fit it for you for like $10, if they even charge you.

Or if your conscience is hurting you, buy it from Amazon and mail me $100. I will then agree to absorb any and all excess guilt lying around.

Is it directly from Amazon or is another company selling it on there? If it's direct no problem, but I'd be a bit wary of other companies. Check out their feedback and see if any other users have had problems with them.

Who still wears a watch?

My battery died in my watch and I never needed it since I always have my cell phone to check.

Good advice from the basketman. I still haven't had any problems with Amazon vendors, though.

Since you've already ordered it, make sure it arrives with a warranty card and that it's all properly filled out (esp. purchase date) in case you end up having any problems with it

Out of interest, is it a chain store or independent you can take it into to get links removed? I used to work at an independent store (with a proper jeweller, I might add, as opposed to most of the rest of the stores in town) and he flat out refused to do links for any watch that wasn't bought in our store, even if the customer wanted to pay for it

What a brilliant way to ensure that I won't come back when I'm looking to purchase something.

Yeah it was annoying at times to have to say no to people, tho I could also kind of see his point, cos people would buy a watch from the chain store a couple of doors down, then when they couldn't take the links out they would come to us. And the jeweller was in his 70s and completely swamped with other repairs and whatnot anyway.
