Only in that it might "rev up" the repubgelical base. The borderline independents and the soccer moms that they've lost to dems in this election won't even blink at this.

Did Kerry at least make some statement clarifying what he meant because, although a brief sound clip, it does sound like he's saying if you're dumb you'll end up a soldier.

If he meant that if you're dumb you end up leading a country into a war that is a complete mess (i.e. Bush) then he should probably clarify that. I just don't know if he did or not.

come on, do you really think Kerry meant to say that? Yeah, he was a shitty Presidential candidate, but is really THAT stupid? I don't think so.

I mean, I presume most people wouldn't say that, but you never know. Some people say some crazy stuff sometimes. Besides, even if he didn't MEAN to, he still did say it incorrectly. So at the very least it'd be a good idea to just clarify. I don't think there is much wrong with overclarification. Better safe than sorry. Better to err on the side of caution, etc.

I mean, we're talking about clarification, not justification of his statements. It shouldn't be that difficult to say what he was apparently supposed to say to just clear up what many people have construed as a very distasteful thing to say about the military.

I don't see the sense in being stubborn and "stomping of the foot" about it.

was that quote in the previous page about what he was supposed to say from him? The only thing I have heard about this is from this thread.

EDIT: Oh, and if he did. Good. Problem solved. [/thread]:)

Obnerians who loathe Bush are sheep... and Bush has won two elections... because the "edgy risk-takers who march to the sound of their own drum of reason" vote for him at 51% Right, those who support Bush are really interested in speaking truth to power and those who oppose him are cowed followers.

Or put more kindly... sheep in what sense?

Can't speak for others, but I oppose Bush because I oppose his policies. I truly think he is a disastrous president. Reagan was conservative, I disagreed with him, but he was an effective president. Bush sucks.

If that makes me a sheep, then there's a moral imperative for me to keep baaaa'ing away. I think he's permanently damaging some of our institutions.

But you didn't answer, or perhaps I didn't ask clearly enough, what has Bush done that you support? I see you set yourself as the "outsider" with rage against these fucking numbskull liberals... on a consistent basis in these political threads.

What do you believe he has done to warrant your support?

Bush's policies have made Dalen feel "safer" in the world. That was the word you used, wasn't it, Dalen?

Hopefully he won't follow the rationale offered by a "friend" of ours: "When you make more money, you'll understand."

i am still unclear about his comments

Quote:
He then said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

That, Kerry said, was meant as a reference to Bush, not troops. Kerry said it is the president who owes U.S. soldiers an apology - for "a Katrina foreign policy" that misled the country into war in Iraq, failed to adequately study and plan for the aftermath, has not properly equipped troops and has expanded the terrorist threat

bush went to school (good schools at that) - made an effort - did his homework - graduated....so who is he talking about? i think kerry was spouting off - went over the line., and was called out for it then came back with i was talking about bush nonsense to cover his dumbass remarks

When issues break I often go through about 12 newsites, across the political spectrum, just to gauge media imagery that can form popular political opinion. Fox, of course, always is a great administration jerk off.

This may change by the time you click, but Kerry's "firing back" is actually well played on Fox:

http://www.foxnews.com/

Continuing pieces of evidence that this not 2004. I don't want to win both houses though (cf. Senator Mofo Loogar's sage advice about not being the party "controling the congress" in the runup to 2008).
