How is that new Ani? Just saw an ad for it some mag and noticed she had a new band. Are they as good as the old one? It's nice to hear she's putting out something other than solo stuff. It's been awhile. And when I say awhile, I mean like two years. But for her, I guess that's been like 8 albums ago or something.

Anyway, your thoughts?

Haven't really assimilated yet. No judgement about the band, but so far so good. Guitar picking is once again at the forefront.

Andrew Bird is on about half the tracks. Can't hurt.

Just wondering if it's worth picking up when I go out today. Let me know if you can. Thanks.

OK, after my first proper listen: Decent, but it won't win any new fans like Little Plastic Castle did or even Up Up Up Up Up Up might have. The devout will be pleased. The new band performs well and is adequate for what's here. The first and last songs rank right up there with her best, but most of the rest feels like filler. The spoken track (name escapes me right now) is a pleasant surprise, though.

If you...
are a devout fan: You've already bought it, so why are you even reading this?
are a casual fan: Sample a few of the middle tracks at a store or online. See for yourself. It might grow on me. Might.
have never heard Ani: Listen to the first track (great licks!!!!) then try Little Plastic Castle or Living In Clip
are a hater: Move along, thanks.

Oh the beating points you've been accruing Busty. Best pray I'm not gainfully employed before Hulty goes up to see you, cos if I got the cheese, I'm coming, and well, I'm gonna beat you mercilessly.

(Actually, we both know I'll just mock you until you tell me it's more than enough, then I'll mock you some more...then I'll stop, we'll get reaaaallllyyy drunk, and you will be mocked some more)

Busta.
