What was the strange comment Ben said to Jack about his plan being blown to manipulate him after Jack saw the x-ray? Something about "Sunshine". It was an awkward exchange.

After looking at Wiki to make sure I'm slandering Paulo correctly comparing his introduction to Cousin Oliver, I find a reference to a X-files episode.

"In the episode "Sunshine Days", a character (Michael Emerson) who recreates the Brady Bunch house from his thoughts renames himself Cousin Oliver"

Michael Emerson is Ben on Lost. Freaky. Or just a meaningless shout out.

Speaking of which, were we all aware that the Black Rock was owned by Hanso's grandfather? http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Black_Rock_%28ship%29

No clue. I did see on a spoiler site it's not "Radzinski" who was in the hatch with Kelvin before Desmond showed up. We've never seen Radzinski anyway but it's not him if that site is correct.

My guess, some stooge that has been pushing buttons "saving the world" on behalf of Dharma which apparently no longer exists.

or a pirate.

Good episode overall. I agree that what's-her-face might be more evil than Ben which could be an interesting twist. I think Jack's new dilemma is to figure out who to side with on that one. Ben didn't help his cause by saying he intended on "breaking Jack and making him believe they were good."

The new characters are annoying the piss out of me. Introducing them has been more than awkward. I thought it was established last season that the screens in that hatch were to view the other stations. Maybe not but it was at least implied by what the guy says in the video. Regardless, the new girl's "contribution" was lame.

I'm totally bummed about this. I guess he'll reappear later in dream sequences and as a helping spirit, but still. So what was the form of the black smoke when he was getting water? At first I thought it was a bear.

I'm just hoping Lost doesn't degenerate into a second-rate Flatliners with lots of supposedly dead people haunting the living with about their sins.

And the white culty pajamas they wore to that funeral gave them all an extra Hale-Bopp creepiness.

It really, really sucks that they killed off Eko. To me, he has become a Top 10 all-time TV character. That scene of him machete-ing the warlords in the church was fucking amazing. And the look on the altar boy's face when Eko emerged with the blood-drenched machete was absolutely heartbreaking. Eko's whole backstory was fantastic. I damn near teared up every time he looked at the picture of him and his brother as kids.

The "pirate" kind of looked like Zeke, didn't he? Perhaps he has a twin, like Kelvin did. I'm definitely with everyone who hates the new characters. Why phase out Bernard and Rose, who were at least previously established?

And, more importantly, WHERE'S FROGURT?!?!?!?

I was bummed about Ecko too but when I thought about it, I'm not sure he had much left to offer. I guess you could make that argument about everyone to an extent but other than being cool, he's role was at a good stopping point I think.

If Anna and Eko were left alive the Others would get their asses kicked, so they kind of had to die for the storyline to move more Othery.

but Adewle Abbbullelelwewweeweewo-wule (or whatever) did some mighty fine acting last night.

I wouldn't be surprised if that dude started getting some movie roles.

Not that he's the greatest actor or anything, but he has really cool screen presence. Just look at how many Eko fans there were considering what a poorly developed and underutilized character he was.

True.

There's also the fact that the actor was not well liked on set hence his early demise on the show.

Might had something to do with him being a goner.

If the black smoke can manifest itself as Eko's brother, how many other things/people has it been?

This has made two things clear to me:

1. Image

Locke needs to grow a huge mustache.

2. Image

Hurley should do his hair up Flock of Seagulls style.

But the horse was real. She pet it.

I bet Paolo's really Smokey. We haven't seen the two of them together.

So was the slipper that Dave threw at Hurley, but we know he wasn't really there on the island.
